Stats for those accepted

Congratulations to those accepted to SLO!

Would you please list your stats? I have a sophomore and she is very interested in SLO. Please also list your major.

Thanks!! I appreciate it

Business
3.3 unweighted GPA, 3.45 Cal Poly Weighted
Lots of Extra Currics / Leadership / Sports
1400/1600 SAT (they don’t look at writing) (this is how i got in with my so-so gpa, cus my sat was really good, very important at slo)

admissions for slo is very formulaic, if you wanna get in, focus on gpa / sat. and get work experience, take classes at community college, do 1 thing of leadership so you can check that box, and do extracurrics that you enjoy.

goodluck! cal poly is a great school, and i will probably attend.

guitars 101 - you should read the thread “accepted to cal poly slo” for people’s stats

Graphic Communications
-3.5 CSU GPA
-1900 SAT (1220 Math/Reading)
-Full Extracurricular Hours, with leadership (Marching Band/Newspaper, which I got to list as classes)
-Some (minimum) work experience

A very overlooked thing is the fact that Cal Poly actually asks about ECs. People say they don’t care, but the truth is that it’s the only CSU school that even asks about them.

Wine and Viticulture
3.83 weighted
26 ACT

Earth Science, E.D. accepted
3.55 cal poly GPA
27 ACT in one sitting, 30 ACT superscored

Nutrition, accepted for early decision

Hey college__bound,
Congrats on getting in for nutrition!!
I applied for nutrition regular decision and have a 3.8 gpa, 1860 sat, and 27 act. :frowning:
Not the best stats, so I prob won’t get in but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!!

greenlash: I replied to your other post too haha =] I think you have a decent shot at getting in. I don’t know how much more competitive it gets during regular decision but your stats look good to me. good luck!

Daughter’s stats:

Accepted to Kinesiology–regular decision

4.27 Cal Poly GPA
30 ACT
Class rigor: Took 5 APs. Honors and Community College (pre-calculus and statistics)
Also, took 8th grade Algebra 1.
Minimal work experience NOT related to major. ECs, clubs, leadership, but NOT the maximum hours allowed.

Thank you all so much. I will check out the other thread as suggested. She is not sure of her major yet, so we aren’t sure if that will be a factor going against her. Anyway, thanks again

I know that taking AP classes is also very important for admission. It helps students graduate in 4 years, since some of their GE requirements will be out of the way.

The best way is to use the forum search tool and search for the major’s title. Not everyone will post in this thread, so searching yields the best results. You’ll want to note a low-end and high-end, gpa and test score.

Of course, a sophomore probably has no idea what major they want to do yet. In this case, get an idea via the uc stat finder (pretty good basis for CP highly impacted majors), which will tell you by campus and by high school. Or, use the campus’ student profile report which will tell you by college. Finally, if your high school uses Navience, go in there now and add intended colleges and write down what the stats were by school. Note: I don’t know if CP uses the UC method of wanting students to be competitive within their class.

Cal Poly also factors into the admission process the number of core CSU semesters taken beyond the minimum of 30 semesters. This is an important part of the admission ranking. It would be instrutive to see those numbers posted too.
