I just stumbled upon this and must sya that I am surprised by what I see. I want to know your opinion on this as well. MIT Office of the Provost, Institutional Research

What in particular is surprising?

That they were able to admit 50/50 men/women. You always hear about engineering schools being 30% women.

Too bad they don’t report application/admissions rates for EA vs RD.

There isn’t a detailed breakdown, but the numbers of applied and admitted certainly exist.

OperaDad, if you are that interested in historical data, Michelle Hernandez does a good job of tracking and summarizing these numbers. Here’s the relevant report for the college class of 2015, whose admissions are reflected in the CDS linked above: [Ivy League Admission Statistics for Class of 2015 - Hernandez College Consulting & Ivy League Admission Help](http://www.hernandezcollegeconsulting.com/ivy-league-admissions-statistics-2015/).

The admissions office actually does report the EA/RD numbers on the website: [Admissions Statistics | MIT Admissions](Admissions statistics | MIT Admissions)

For last year’s entering class:
Applied EA 6,008
Applied RD 12,101
Admitted EA 680
Deferred EA admitted RD 224
Admitted RD (incl deferred) 940
