They recommended I send my mid-year grades as well as take the SAT/ACT again lol.

Your 33 ACT seems good.

@cheergirl210 I would guess you were deferred because of your ACT score. You were either right at FSU’s minimums or possibly below them, so you would have to raise them to have a chance at acceptance. Your GPA is also just barely in FSU’s middle 50% so the two of them coupled together are why you got deferred.

@garrett69 that’s a blanket statement they show to everyone, as I’m sure you guessed: why would you need to raise your ACT of a 33?
My two guesses are your GPA is below FSU’s middle 50%, which it would be just barely, or there’s something on your transcript that they didn’t like. You don’t have any Ds on there do you?

You could also contact the admissions office asking why they made the decision they made. While your GPA isn’t mind-bogglingly high, nothing that you posted would jump out as being deferral-worthy.

Deferred…

A little disappointed now… I guess I’ll just apply to UF or an entirely different school (since I really wanted to go to FSU, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now).

Yeah, I had a D or two sophomore year. I assumed they want to see my first semester grades

I got the same deferred message, i have a 3.9 and a 2080. I’ve taken 9 APs and have had all A’s since freshman year

UF admission deadline was November 1’st. However, all other Florida public universities (UCF, USF, UNF, etc) are on rolling admissions. If you haven’t already, apply NOW, while merit funding is still available. Stats that would get you deferred from FSU, will earn you merit scholarships at the other universities (as long as funding is still available). Even (hopefully) if you get accepted by FSU at a later date, you should line up a safety/back-up option.

Good Luck!

@Abcdefg009 Really?

@abcdef, those are impressive numbers for FSU…but I’m guessing you’re out of state? FYI Letters of Rec are not considered…the other thing people often forget is how much they consider strength of schedule, and not just slacking off come Senior year. I can also vouch for the fact that one “D” will not ruin your chances, however you need to show you made up for it and it wasn’t in your Junior year…
