Stats of Admitted Students

Yea I was wondering...how many of the deferrals they send out get reversed by spring time? (approximately) If what collegecountdown said is somewhat true...then good luck to all the UM-safety-applicants! I hope you get into Ivy's so that I have a chance of getting into Umich :)

Out of state
White Female
GPA: 3.9 (lowered b/c of a math grade, but my teacher wrote a rec for me and basically took the blame...sweet deal!)
Small private school
2200 SAT
applied by oct 1, admitted Nov. 23 (I think)
Good luck to everyone

The 50% deferred rate is what i've been told from 3 different sources familar with the admissions. They've told me that of the initial applicant pool, about 25% get accepted, and the other 75% deferred, with very few straight up rejections. And of the 75%, only 50% are eventually accepted. That get's their acceptance rate (62%).

sorry y'all. those weren't my real stats, that's not my real race, and I've never been to NJ in my life. But i DID get into umich engineering <and i="" am="" indeed="" very="" pleased="">. Just thought I'd lighten the mood, but I see know that this 'race' thing is a touchy subject. Waah.</and>

on the other hand, iciclerose88 needs to chill. [in future, do not feed the troll]

congrats to all those were admitted.

I don't get you ballaboy. Maybe you need a better hobby than posting fake stats on CC. In fact, you should just ball a little more. Ballin=lovin. Anyways, for all of you who have posted stats, could you re-post them witht he probability (percentage) that you'll actually end up going to uMich? Y'all are gettin my hopes up and I don't want to be let down when nobody comes, haha. You guys are a quality bunch.

I think everything he posted earlier was absolutely true. He's trying to now save face by posting this BS.

We are waiting to hear from UMich - it seems that these decisions take forever. I am wondering what my D's chances are...

OOS
Hispanic
SAT: 2320
ACT: 33
Taking all AP classes available to her
GPA: 4.0 Weighted
Rank: 1/214
TASP attendee

She is applying to several colleges (Berkeley, Stanford, Cornell, UMich, Harvard and Princeton) but really would prefer UMich because of Telluride House.

Does anyone have thoughts on her chances of acceptance to UMich, and what kind of financial aid she may be offered?

This is my first child to apply to college and I don't know a whole lot about the process. Thanks for any help!

chances...i'd say obviously definitely in..no question..not sure about Merit...probably a lot because of ethnicity (minority)...GL

Depends on unweighted grades of 10th and 11th grade academic classes. 4.0 weighted could be anything.

She has carried straight A's throughout her high school classes. Some classes were over 100%. I've never understood weighted vs. unweighted really, but straight A's throughout, if that helps.

Out-of-state. Accepted in 2004 to the Honors Program. (Ended up picking Berkeley because of money and my parents didn't want me to study out of the West. )

GPA: 4.0 unweighted
Rank: 3/500
ECs: Key Club Vice President, FBLA Vice President, Honor Choir, Piano for 12 years, Dance for 3 years, Private vocal lessons, Volunteer at a homeless center for 3 years, National Honour Society, Mock Trial, Academic Olympics

Awards:

Vocal performance: National Music Teachers' Association Regional National award (won't specify region)
Mock Trial Northern regional state winner (team award) (won't specify which state)
Academic Olympics regional winner (team award)
AP Scholar with Honors

Well then she has the same stats as me.. and I've been waiting for about a month since my app was completed, but from what I've read people have gotten in with less ACT and GPA.

So I guess I'll see her there :)

Congratulations to all those that have made it thus far and congrats in advance to all the well-qualified applicants that await their decision :)

I bet a huge batch of decisions will be done just before Christmas.

Im guessing I will after since I submitted app on 22nd...how come on WOlverine Access it doesnt say "application not complete" anymore? It doesn't say anything now...not even "application complete" hmm.

"I think everything he posted earlier was absolutely true. He's trying to now save face by posting this BS."

please, UMRunner08, by all means check my IP address <if you="" know="" what="" that="" is="">; probably you'd need to ask a mod to do it. I'm not from NJ.</if>

Regardless, I'm not going to post my real stats simply because I enjoy anonymity.

I only leave my hole to troll.
I'm not crazy, just lazy.

MomOfThree, I'd say your daughter has a very good chance - straight A's means a 4.0 Umich GPA, and her scores are definitely strong.

Momofthree, your D is as good as in unless something goes wrong! A Valedictorian with a 1520+ on the orginal sections of the SAT will be in serious consideration for some scholarship, but given her URM status, I would say the odds are multiplied.Do let us know what happens.

Does the speed of UMich's decisions depend on the strength of the applicant?

For example, if a clear admit and a borderline case both apply on the same day, will the clear admit have their decision sooner?

aghhh...why hasn't my decision come... its killing meee +_+

applied to engineering
3.9 ish gpa
2150 (on one test)
760 math 2c 720 physics
AIME qualifier

i'm dying of suspense....
submited 10/19
completed 11/5 ish
is it because i submitted to late?
am i not strong enough?
woe is me...........
is it because i'm asian? T_T

I bet you'll hear at the end of this week/next week. (I'm in the same boat as you)
