I was wondering what the stats of some of you admitted students were when you applied as a transfer student? What was your gpa? maybe you even had to apply more than once? What college did you apply for? what classes did you take? how many credit hours did you complete prior to applying? any low grades or W's? rec. letters?

Any information is great. thanks in advance :)

i got in as a transfer this year after 2 years at a community college.
my cumulative gpa was a 3.9.
i had about 51 credits i believe…of those, only like 40 transferred to u of m though.
i took a bunch of different classes before applying…2 english comp classes, art history, poli sci, us history, philosophy, psych. can’t remember all of them! lol
i applied to ls&a.
no low grades from cc…i had all a’s and a-'s.
no letters of rec but both of my parents are u of m grads.

thanks for your reply dimsumplum, and congrats on getting in! i hope to be where you are soon.
do you remember some of the classes that didn’t transfer to umich?

According to UM Admissions, the average GPA of a transfer student from a community college is 3.5-3.8 (college GPA), and the admittance rate is approx. 40%.

i think i had 4 classes that didn’t transfer…2 criminal justice courses and then a math class that wasn’t a high enough level to transfer. i can’t remember the other one that didn’t transfer…maybe an intro to education class.

thanks dimsumplum. I should have around a 3.8 when i apply, lowest would be a 3.7 depending on my physics class, its killing me lol. I take a lot of math courses and I’ll have 61 credits when applying, of which 48 should transfer. i think i should be good since i’m in-state but i get worried lol. thanks again for your help :)

I am OOS. I live in Texas. I currently attend Texas A&M University. My major is Biomedical Sciences. I was planning on applying to transfer to the University of Michigan and I would apply to LSA under the major of Cell & Molecular Biology.
