Stats of Blue Ribbon apps?

Anyone care to share? I’ll post mine as soon as my (hopefully big & blue) envelope arrives (better be tomorrow, too, grr…lol).

Even though I posted my RD stats a while ago in the proper thread, I am wondering why it is so neccessary at this point for me to post them in this thread. If you are really that interested that thread is just a bit below this one.

Like you said, you will most likely get your envelope tomorrow so what good does it do to do some last minute comparing between the two of us. Good luck, but I don't think you should have to wittle people down to their stats so that you can compare your accomplishments to theirs.

wow you're not a jerk or anything

I can't say I didn't expect that. My point is that Jen will get an envelope tomorrow or Wednesday that will proclaim her admissions status and suddenly stats won't matter. I'm sorry if I was blunt about it, but I didn't think it was an appropriate question in terms of where in the admissions timeline we are. And absolutely no hard feelings.

I would appreciate, however, a question about acceptees' interests, hobbies, backgrounds and the like, and would very much contribute my own if such a question were asked. ;)

It seems to me that stats sharing/comparing/discussing is one of the primary conversations on this website. Besides, how is it weird to ask of stats of other applicants to your school, when that is what occurs on probably every single other CC board?

Well, personally I don't think it should be one of the primary discussion topics, which is why I am not fond of it.

I think the odd thing about your request is that you are getting your admissions status very soon, so I don't understand what impact giving my stats will have on your admittance. Comfort? You most likely don't need it.

Good luck! I hope you get in. :)

The useful thing about posting stats at this late date is for the kids and parents looking at this next year - and whether Brandeis is a match for them. At this point, posting stats with the result (accept/deny) would be the most useful.

yea astroalex listen to ohio_mom, mother does know best

Decision: Wait-listed

1 ranked public HS in NJ

-3.45 UW, 3.9 Weighted (I had a 2.9 freshman year...without it my gpa would be much higher)
-SAT I: 730 Verbal + 720 Math = 1450 (in one sitting)
-SAT IIs: 760, 720, 690
-Good ECs, good recs, and excellent essay(s)

We'll see what happens when they get my mid-year report...it should help me

I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck in the RD round.

I'm surpised someone w/ that rank & test scores was waitlisted, strange. I know how you feel about low frosh grades tho, mine bring my cumunlative GPA way down too, grr.

I think he meant that his school is ranked number 1 in the state, not that he was ranked number 1 in his class.

Alex, being waitlisted doesn't mean he goes on to the RD round. I think it means his application will be reconsidered once everyone who was offered admission accepts or rejects and they still have room in the class.

Stellar, I hope your mid-year report helps. And write them a letter or something to show them how you've improved and that you really want to go to brandeis. It can't hurt. Good luck!

Alrighty. For some reason I read deferred somewhere. Maybe it was in another thread, so I carried it over to this one. :o

thanks...i hope it helps too

Freshman year definitely hurt me; i think i would've been accepted if i had maintained at least a 3.5. But then again, who knows?

got it yesterday.

ACT: 34
SAT: 1410
SAT IIs: 760, 720, 720
APs: 5, 4, 3
GPA for 9th-11th: 3.7/4.1
mediocre essays, ECs, reccs, grades.

I'm one of those parents whose kid is considering B, so your stat postings are appreciated. It gives us an idea of what it takes to get into such a fine school.

What is "Blue Ribbon"? Couldn't find it on the Brandeis website. Thanks.

Pyewacket,
the Blue Ribbon Apps are a simplified form of application (no new essay, one teacher rec, on-line form) that is being offered to some out-of-state applicants. From what one of the students posted on this forum, showing 2 forms of interest - a visit and an interview - are also needed. The results were sent out on February 18th - much better than having to wait until April!

The Blue Ribbon App isn't just for out-of-state applicants. I got one, and I'm in-state. The letter that comes with the app says that it is for prospective students who've demonstrated interest in the school and who've scored well on the PSATs/SATs.
