Stats of people accepted to UCSB

alright, so i'm wondering how hard it is to get into SB, and its because people have told me different things; some say that you definitely need a 4.0, and some say a 3.5 would do. I know, and have, already looked at the average gpa. But, could you just post your:

Wow, Calikillafornia, I’m surprised. Did you have any ECs? APs?

9 AP classes (6 taken 5 passed)
I was surprised as well, but I think maybe it’s because I got into Irvine (but rejected it for UCR)

I had few EC’s.
2 varsity sports, Speech & Debate, and a few other academic and volunteer clubs.

Thats really surprising…I don’t think it matters what other UC you got into. Your scorer must have been having a bad day…or something…who knows.

same thing happened to one of my friends : ~3.75 UC GPA, 2020 SAT , 800 math ii, 750 bio
got rejected from everywhere except riverside.

but got into UCI after appealing, ( appeal was denied at UCSB and UC Davis)

so many BS thing happened with UC apps this yr. :(

wow, these last two stories are kind of ridiculous, and yea, people have been telling me about the problems with UC selection this year too

thanks to anyone who has already posted, people still very welcome to post basically anything about UCSB on here :)

this was awhile ago but it might give some people with low GPAs some hope. i went to ucsb with a 3.2 UC GPA and a 33 ACT with some decent EC’s back in 2007. It was definately my ACT scores and EC’s that got me in. I have since transferred schools though but had a great time while i was there.

well, i can give hope to ppl with lower GPAs too haha
GPA: 3.46
SAT: 1700
Accepted!

but i had a ton of ECs: 3 yrs Vasity swimming, 1yr JV football, 1yr Varsity cross country, 1yr Varsity Track, 4 yrs class VP, 1st in Scottish World Pipe Band Championships, a few clubs and alot of service hours.

w00t w00t!

hopefully this will also give people with a lower gpa hope…
gpa: 3.3 (or 3.4, i dont remember)
SAT: 2030
accepted!

but i had a ton of EC’s too. I was in student government for three years, i was on varsity dive, and did symphony orchestra for three years, and i had taken a total of 8 ap classes and 9 ap tests.
