I was wondering what I should do now. I was deferred, so I visited the admissions office where my officer said I was at the top of the deferred list. What should I think or do about this?

i know know what you should do danzone..but i do have a question if u dont mind...what are your stats? (i think a friend got deferred, but we dunno)

3.6 academic unweighted/sat equivalent to act 26

I applied to Kinesiology by the way

what are my chances with a 3.1 michigan gpa :( very bad i knwo but i have an upward trend cause i screwed up sophomore year, but tried very hard junior and senior year(even tho they dont look at senior). My sat was 1370 and my ec's were pretty good. i had a few networking jobs, and good amt of comm service. my recs shud be good as well and my essays were decent. Im out of state(NY) and i completed my app on nov 24th and it was offically completed as off dec 1st. alexandre got any ideas on my chances...i still havent heard from michigan..

Your chances aren't good. A 3.1 GPA will hurt you. Do you have a legitimate reason why your grades suffered on your Sophomore year? If so, did you make sure Michigan knew about it. Your SAT is certainly good enough, but your GPA will hurt your chances significantly. And applying in December will not help your cuase either. You should hear back from Michigan in the coming 10 days. Good luck and keep us posted. I hope you get in.

well i also asked my guidance counselor to send a mid year report in with a letter saying how i am definitely showing greater potential. but that shudnt be going out until later this week...and there really is no legitimate reason...i jus didnt have my realization until junior year :( ... i hoep they consider my upward trend cause even my SAT shows my potential now

i got in to michigan...im similar to you in that i had exactly a 1370 SAT also and im from NY...BUT.....my michigan gpa was 3.7, and my essays were stellar...BUT im sure you have better EC's then me and you have the hook with potential going for you,.....all in all ...you have a good shot...but its kinda late, i applied almost 3 months ago

by the way thanx alexandre for replying :) o yeah and i called michigan today and they said they sent out my letter last thursday so i shud be getting it soon...def a rejection :( o well moving on

DUDE! LOL i think i may possibly have one of the lowest stats in here and still have gotten into michigan

The award info wasn't sent with the admissions letter. I heard about three weeks later (mid january) that I had gotten it.

How would one calculate a Michigan GPA?

only count core classes, all A's count as 4's, all B's count as 3's etc. No extra weight for honors/AP :(,..then when u average your gpa and get smoething like 3.64 for example, round to the nearest tenth so ud have a 3.6 u mich gpa.

at least according to alexandre. and we trust him.

alexander i was deferred...look for my post on it and see if u can help me out on what to do next.
