Stats on Pre Med Schools

Does anybody have any stats on colleges and their pre med programs/students.
I'm especially looking for a list of schools and how successful their pre meds are into gaining acceptance to medical schools in the country. thanks everyone.

Virtually any 4-year college is a pre-med school, unless you mean the “popular” ones. In either case, these stats shouldn’t carry much weight in your decision-making. The schools can make any sort of criteria they want to show the statistics they want. This makes them pretty useless for both comparing different schools and seeing how successful the individual school is in sending pre-meds to med school.

For my school:
http://www.career.emory.edu/parents/pdf/Med_Stats_2009.pdf

The 80 percent acceptance rate is only for students with at least a 3.5 and a 30 mcat score.

Don’t rely only on stats when choosing a school, you need to go with fit, because YOU WILL BE THERE FOR 4 YEARS.

If getting into med school is your prime concern why not just going to a school with a program with undergrad+med school combined.

azngamer54 - I didn’t know it was possible to have a school with undergrad+med school combined! Are these schools usually ‘bad’ in comparison to the education that the students which do undergrad and med school at ‘separate’ times?

College,

Thanks for sharing the Emory’s stats. I thought that Emory’s acceptance rate to Med school would be higher than 60%.

cammms,

Have you reviewed the threads on Multiple Degree Programs?

ace550 I actually haven’t! Thanks!!!

Your prime focus should be your college GPA and MCAT score, any UG school will do in any major of your choice or combo of major(s) and minors. The school that fits your individual needs including being the cheapest in case of limited financial resources (most people) will be just fine.
