Could anyone comment as to whether the average applicant stats seem a bit inflated on this board as compared to what USC accepts as a whole?

I know that the first few pages are mostly scholarship winners and obviously have very high stats but it seems like everyone on this page was accepted and had at least a 2200 SAT/4.0UW. It doesn’t really seem to match up with the avg. stats of USC’s 2010 freshman profile.

USC does not send any rejections until the first week of April, so until the last few pages it is all acceptances - so it isn’t that there aren’t rejections, it is that they all come at the very end. I am very grateful to those who DID post rejections - I am sure it is a very difficult thing to do, but that information is the most valuable to current applicants.

But I think you are right - College Confidential posters tend to be VERY well-qualified and are not representative of the average applicant. So take the results here with a grain of salt, consult the freshman profile, and GOOD LUCK!!!

^^Most of the students who matriculate to USC from my school, a private school less than a hour drive from USC, have around 3.5UW - 3.7UW and 2050 - 2150.

Basically anyone at the threshold of 3.7+ and 2150+ gets in, but most matriculate to other schools like UC-Berkeley, UCLA, Georgetown, Washington University in St.Louis, etc.

Okay, thank you That makes my chances seem much better. So if we don’t hear from USC by April, its likely bad news then?

@alamemom, if the student is accepted and is also offered a scholarship, will they be allowed to wait until May 1 to decide?

Yes, everyone has until May 1st to decide

AND

you will still be able to reserve housing (for a small fee - $30 I think, but you don’t have to make the big housing deposit until May 1st) and apply to Thematic Option while you decide :)
