Other Factors, hook?: Nothing I can really think of, not an URM, both parents went to CSULB, just glad I'm a Trojan now (:

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC...?: Although I got Spring Admit, I'm glad I got into SPPD, and it's perfect for what I want to study. It's one of the most attractive offers I have now, but I'm definitely waiting until everything comes in (which will be tomorrow hahah). I'm hoping I can get bumped up to Fall because of the economy and small size of SPPD may mean someone's more likely to not enroll, but if not, I may just stick it out at a JC for a semester.
Fight on!

[/ul]

Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Not my best...but I honestly don't think I could've managed any better under college application conditions. On my personal scale, they'd be 8/10.
[] Teacher Recs: Didn't read, but I'm sure it was nothing short of phenomenal - I got to read a sort of "sample" letter of rec, a quick little message my teacher whipped up to accompany a school award, and her writing portrayed me so highly that I was a little embarassed.
[] Counselor Rec: n/a
[] EC highlights: Probably the downside of my application...I won't list specifics, but they were pretty unique and had a theme to them, and I felt that they made my application a more cohesive whole. However, they were few in number, and I guess not quite up to par with things like being President of NHS/Varsity Captain/etc.[/ul]

Location/Person:[ul][] State or Country: SoCal
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Chinese
[] Gender: Female
[/ul]

Other Factors, hook?: Hm. Yeah. None. (If anything, being an overepresented Asian would be an anti-hook!)

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC...?: Ah, USC was my #1, and truthfully, I was expecting spring admission...but it's all good. :] I'm handling rejection far better than I anticipated - I thought I'd burn the letter and hole up in my room, sobbing inconsolably for the next few weeks, haha. Anyhow, I'm definitely going the transfer route (not going to appeal because I have no "new and compelling" info :p); they won't stop me that easily, I'll get that USC degree in the end! Congrats to everyone who was accepted, I'm ridiculously excited for those who are attending and hope to see you in a year~

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC…?: status updates…12/17…3/25…3/28 w/oasis…could log into RSVP…this makes my decision really difficult i wouldve gone to USC in a heartbeat if i got into fall but now this is killing me!! im going to wait to see how financial aid is but im really excited to have even been accepted!!

GOOD LUCK TO THOSE STILL WAITING!!

**Decision: Accepted **

[] GPA-UW/W: my high school’s GPA system is screwed up: for the class of 2009, “Official” GPA is freshman + sophomore unweighted, junior and senior weighted - officially, my GPA is a 4.something, unweighted I never calculated. Unofficial weighted GPA for all 4 years is something like a 4.1.

Other Factors, hook?: I did research the summer before my senior year.

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC…?: NMF = half tuition, so I’ll probably be attending especially since I’ve heard USC finaid is also generous (though no one knows until next week?) I also don’t have much of a choice, because Northwestern, Rice, Johns Hopkins, and Berkeley rejected me, leaving me with WashU (who aren’t giving me any money) and a pending decision from Dartmouth (3 hours to go).

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to USC…?: My stats are smack in the middle range for students accepted to USC from my high school, so I was surprised not offered a place. Was offered an interview in June to assist in organizing a transfer plan. Initally received tons of info and personal letters from Viterbi because of Native American status. Changed interest to Marshall. Did self identify diagnosed learning disability (explains somewhat less than stellar GPA).

[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART OF THIS ENTIRE PROCESS WAS WAITING FOR UC IRVINE FOR A MONTH JUST TO BE REJECTED. Hehe. On the other hand, I gave UC San Diego a call and they gave me the exact reason I was rejected because they could pull up my file and look at it. It was GPA by the way. And yes, the “chart” of point distribution is valid.

I knew what I was getting myself into, so I’m cool with it. If you need help with preparing for your application or college or whatever, PM me and I’ll be happy to help. I wish I had had some help. Perhaps I would have pushed my GPA a bit more.

^^^ dude, same here.
