haha, thanks, norcalguy

wow i really am happy that i'm not at cornell yet

not you're not, this is the best place to be. I just got plopped with alot of work for this week. Most of it's done, now it's time to play hard Cornell style.

i mean i really would like to go to cornell, dont' get me wrong. but there's nothing in ithaca considering that i'm from los angeles. and cornell's got the highest suicide rate so i don't know if that's wat u mean by play hard cornell style. i'm happy ur enjoying life at cornell.

maybe u guys play too hard at cornell

Penn = party Ivy -- o yea ^.^

No it doesn't, look things up before you factualize rumors you've heard.

lol. cornell is pretty famous for that.

it's also known as the easiest ivy to get in and the hardest to get out. i wonder why.

Yes cornell is famous for it because lots of townies do it. cornell's suicide rate is a little below the collegiate average and far below the national overall average.

with regard to was and were: The subjunctive mood is fairly dead...even many educated people don't use it often. I wish that weren't the case, but what can you do? When I was in elementry and middle school they didn't teach us the names of even any TENSES. I learned the names present, past, imperfect, past perfect, etc. didn't come up until SPANISH class heheh.

With regard to immigrants and english: I do cut them slack, they are learning it in less time than I have. However, when students can't put a complex (but not rediculous) sentence together properly with correct tense continuity, pronoun references, agreement, etc., by 12th grade after learning english from day 1 of life, it's disheartning.

BTW, i like the correcting on CC. thanks to CC i now spell "sent*a*nce" correctly haha.

Ironic addition: I saw this porn film in the dorm hall the other day (yeah, some guy had his laptop going in the kitchen haha) where the guy is supposed to be a professor (a government professor teaching an american political history survey course...hence he should know english ;)) and the film concludes with him saying "This is just between you and I, right?" I thought it was hilarious.

Cornell's suicide rate is around the national average. Really. Look up the numbers.

i luv it how u guys like to pick at every single thing. and i wouldn't be talking about it if i hadn't looked up the #s already. have fun talking about grammar.

lol sparticus, that's classy ;), but hilarious nonetheless

hey, mimi, get over it...go look up the suicide rate or something, because it's not the highest and you're misinformed

and clarifying a false rumor that we hear at least once a week isn't "picking at every little thing"...it's annoying to hear ignorant people repeat the same unsubstantiated rumor over and over again.

the cornell suicide thing i think is a bunch of b.s. theres a lot of suicide in other colleges like MIT or harvard.

"hey, mimi, get over it..."

do people ever think of taking their own advice? mimi's not the one making a big deal of it - despite whatever rumors she might hear, cornell is still her number one school. so she made a joke - big deal, haha, o wow, she has a sense of humor. she loves cornell enough to apply ED. give her a break, get a life, and "get over it."

i can't believe this thread is still going....

lol, i don't know how the alleged high suicide rate is a joke? if she were joking I don't think she'd say that she looked up numbers. either way, if it is a joke, it's pretty tasteless humor. and I have a life, thanks, I'm off to engage in it in about an hour :).

and calling someone a biyach is a joke? or in your words "comic relief".

it's a way to avoid calling somebody it for real, but then seeing only ***** when the final post is made.

"I have a life, thanks"
are you sure? cuz i kno other forums where current students come on CC to HELP prospective students, rather than make them question their choice of schools.

"it's a way to avoid calling somebody it for real"
and why should one call somebody ***** in the first place? talk about "tasteless humor"
