thanks for the third time for your amazing stats biz freak, i am afraid at this point there will be much sugarcoating, so it's ok, you have no clue, talk to you april after my acceptance letter

drop it, there's obviously no argueing against this person. as he so choose to remai arrogant to everyone else's comment (and choose not to back on his comments about columbia/princeton) I see no point in continuing this discussion.

like he said, letters will be mailed by april and we'll see then.

why are you even here? you're obviously convinced you can somehow get into columbia with those mediocre stats and won't listen to any bodies opinions. arrogance for the acceptance

Yeah....GrkPrincetonian, you're quite an *******....I'm sure you'll respond with the "who asked you" or "like I give a damn about your opinion" response that usually comes out of the curled lip arrogance you possess. Columbia is an Ivy League school, so no body is a sure thing. I'm not saying you won't get in, because that is very much a possibility. I'm just saying you have the kind of personality which leads me to believe the adcom would rather eat your essay than read how you flatter yourself.

But, none-the-less.....GOOD LUCK, big guy.wink

hahaha, if i only wrote the truth in essays, if anyone for that matter did. Please, every essay is filled with pretense and I thank all of you for your diatribes, happy worrying columbia EDers, I'm mediocre, HA, by the way I love all your stats.

GrkPrincetonian has quite the ego. What's the point in getting roused though?

Excuse me, but a 1450 on your SAT is not above average for Columbia. Actually, I got a 1510 on mine, and have quite a few hooks (which I will not divulge for "strategic" reasons). I have only an about average chance at ED for Columbia, so you probably have about a <10% chance at RD. Besides, if you are rank 2 in your class with such bad SAT scores, most of the kids at your school are probably retards. I could probably have gotten >720 on the M1 without studying.

Also, refrain from double posting. It's rude.

seriously, your school must not be good, the valedictorians and saludictorians at my school both have 2390s!

You are competing with the brightest and the best students in the world. Frankly, I don't think you have an "above average" chance of getting into Columbia.

ok so first of all, i think it's stupid to not reveal your hooks bc of "strategy" - what are we going to do, steal them from you? at this stage in the game, i don't really think that's possible.

but what REALLY made me mad is what grkprincetonian said about all essays being pretentious...that is complete bs. i have read many that weren't, and mine is not at all. it is the complete honest truth, yet still creative and good. if you are not going to write the truth in your essays, then why are you applying? why would you want to get into college under false pretenses? doesn't that make you feel bad at all? if not, then i suppose you're a sociopath.

oh and ps, it's pretty easy for me, and therefore definitely admissions officers, to tell when an essay is bs. you already don't seem like a sincere person, and i have no doubt that if i can pick that up through an online forum, the adcoms will have no trouble realizing that after reading an entire application.

Now I am convinced :D. Admit it, you are phonier than a $3 bill and you know it. Yea, i know, all essays are forthright and honest, everyone has had an epiphany and a life changing experience, you simply take a simple event, embellish it, magnify it, fill it with bulogna and call it a sandwich aka essay. Everyone in college is in under false pretenses, most ivy leaguers included, that's why once they get there they drink themselves stupid and act like idiots when they are not under surveillance, i'd like to see that at an interview, the pinnacle of pretension. Please, the adcoms will never find out what the hell my true intentions are because most of these students are photocopied, phonies, you have to "yes 'em" and "play there game" in order to elevate yourself to a higher position. I love your self-righteous, sententious attitude, you are a phony even when they are not watching, such a sweet kid. ;)

to grk and everyone else: remember flaming's not tolerated on this board.

thanks for the personal attack, grk. too bad you don't know me at all.
this argument is going nowhere, so i'll end by saying that you seem very cynical to only be going into college. lighten up. oh but learn to articulate yourself a bit better -- all those emoticons just aren't doing it for me. the big words were nice, though, seriously; i'm actually surprised at your verbal sat score - might wanna take it again for columbia if p-town doesn't pan out.

anyway, good luck to grk and everyone else.

LOL, OFEternity, I love the post buddy, it's brilliant, the mid 50% of Columbia is 1320-1520. What is the middle of the mid 50%, ummmm, don't think too hard, it's 1420, so i think average is 50% and 1450 is above 1420, do the math. oh yea, you studied for the SAT, hahaha, why? it's not brain surgery, a 770 "without studying" is damn good on my part, and my first language isnt English so a 680 Verbal should suffice. So I guess my bad scores reflect Columbia's dumb student body, that is what you suggested thru your posts, if my SATs are bad and better than half of Columbia's students, than you said it, not me. :)

GrkPrincetonian, I would rather eat a 200 pound piece of feta cheese than go to school with you.

Stat wise, you're mediocre.

If any side of your personality is reflected in your essays, you'll be in big trouble (at least, if you're really as arrogant as you portray yourself to be)

Yet, you're a URM so it might help... oh wait... are pretentious, know-it-all's under represented minorities?

Just wondering, why are you referring to Columbia's student body as dumb and yet still applying? You're a smart guy, there are probably some schools for people like you. Maybe Columbia just isn't one of them.

This has deteriorated into a flame war. Particpants in flame wars risk losing their posting privileges.
