status change?

I think I’ll call tomorrow, it certainly can’t hurt to try.

CLC2…shocked you did not get in UP with your stats.
Not much consolation but this is one of the most difficult years to be applying to any college. In addition the common app makes it easy for more kids to apply to more schools which means they have to turn down many acceptances.I would stay on their radar w/calls and letters. Ask to be put on waiting list for UP ( if there is one just for UP). Don’t give up. There is alot of movement towards the end and you could end up at UP. Good Luck.

i hate to break it to you CLC2 .. but i doubt you’ll be able to appeal. when i tried to appeal, they said they ONLY reconsider applicants who have had extenuating circumstances that affected their grades (ie death in family, major injury, or undiagnosed learning disorder .. and etc). i happen to have a few of the things i just mentioned, so i was able to be reconsidered.

you have to have a legit reason tho for reconsideration, not just cause PSU UP is your number one.

also, i know you are able to switch your major even after your acceptance (if you get into a satellite) but they wont reconsider you just cause you change your major.

i mean, you could still give it a shot! like you said it couldnt hurt.

i was up at penn state a few months ago. a girl i was tlaking to got rejected because she applied to the business college nto knowing it was much more competitative. the changed it to undecided and within days she got an acceptance to UPark.

CLC2, it is just getting harder and harder to get accepted. Nothing embarassing about not getting in. I know plenty of my friends here whose siblings, friends, etc…, were rejected (which I found surprising since many had numerous alumni connections). My friend got accepted from UNC (in-state), UGA, and Florida, and got rejected here. College acceptance is always a crapshoot. I doubt a call will help, but I wish you the best with your other applications.

ur friend that got rejected from psu, did they apply a hard major and for just fall?

well i guess i stand corrected ! i would give it a try, clc2. you’re more than qualified. and if they dont accept you, their loss.

and to jec7483 - wow, i cant believe your friend got into UNC but not penn state! i know someone last year got into michigan ann arbor and all these other awesome schools but not psu main. she goes to altoona, tho.

me and a few friends have yet to hear, i have better grades than most of them, also there are at least 15 kids who have gotten in already…all for fall, i am praying i will get in for summer

Does anyone know how often admissions post the status change? is it once a day or after they decide on each application? also, as we are getting closer to the end of the month, are the chances to get in getting toughter or is it still by major?

i doubt its getting tougher ..

CLC2 – I am a parent and am on this site as my younger child will be going through the application process next year.

I feel your disappointment of not being considered for University Park – it is a wonderful place and I loved every moment that I attended. My older child attends there now so we get to visit. My husband is also a PSU graduate and is an engineer.

Anyway — be proud that you were accepted into Penn State as an engineering major. They have one of the finest engineering programs in the country and if you earn your degree from Penn State in engineering life will be good. They rank very high on US News and World Report.

I believe that you can apply to transfer to UP after earning 60 credits. Will you get AP credits? Can you take some at your local branch campus over the summer? Your sadness over your rejection from UP Campus is understandable but you may actually have a better chance of earning your engineering degree if you spend 2 years at a branch campus. They weed out so many students at UP in the first two years. The program is exceptionally competitive and many students can’t survive the early required math courses. Many a student who initially intended for engineering switch out to other majors.

So…if you do decide on a branch campus work as hard as you possibly can…take summer courses…and the advice I’ve always given my kids are do your homework and don’t skip class ever. You may be at UP before you know it and probably with a higher GPA if you complete two years at the branch campus.

Remember no matter what campus you start you can still earn a Penn State degree. Your scores are good and GPA is good. You undoubtedly can do the work…there is just a very competitive applicant pool for Penn State University Park.

Best of luck to you.

Got Accepted Today with a 3.53 w about a 3.45 uw and 1390/1970. It was strange cause i checked the day before and my psu admissions status was yet to change.

Congrats zach

Congrats dude. You got into Main Campus right? By the way, has anyone heard of anyone applying for Fall and Summer but only being accepted into Summer? Or anyone that has been waitlisted/ deferred from PSU-UP?

ouch. rejected 2x.

altoona, here i come.

two of my good friends, they are twins this year (freshman) and they applied fall and summer and were accepted only into summer

My son’s status as of Friday night said his application was under review, yet his acceptance letter arrived on Saturday. Go figure!

what were her stats

his***********

I had the same exact thing Trip Girl, I was pleasantly surprised to get my acceptance letter in the mail on saturday.
