ok now I got it… if it disappeared u were either accepted or rejected. if it was still their u were deferred. this held true for all my friends. it could be different this time but this is how it was for priority admission atleast the people I talked to

^Opps, I meant deferred.

I remember that during December…however now I don’t think anyone that was deferred doesn’t have the "Your application is complete and is ready for review. " grey box

Its way too early to tell. I remember the whole box thing first the priority thing. I think it was a day or 2 before decisions. They probably just changed the status to make it more formal. I am sure everyone has the box with the same message.

is it possible to get deferred again?

This is the most confusing string I ever saw.

Ladies, just say - disappearance of grey box means that a decision was taken. Decision is either accepted or rejected. Non-disappearance meant no decision a.k.a deferred decision. Obviously for regular application there will be no deferred decision and therefore the grey box will change on 17 Feb either to accepted or rejected.

no that’s the thing leatkids everyone doesn’t have the same thing. it’s just like December. some of the boxes disappeared so of course people are going to speculate and in December peoples speculations held true

I haven’t seen anyone say they are missing the box.

So it sounds like we’re back at square one. Again, my D’s admission status changed to say “application is complete and ready for review” it did not kick out her major and put DGS but there’s still a gray box. Some say the gray box disappearing is a good thing, others say it means denied?

I wonder if admissions counselors ever look at these blogs. If so, I’m sure they laugh at much of the speculation. Gray boxes, wording, guessing - what fun!

Also, has anyone been admitted yet to College of Media - advertising? Why are there all deferred and denied but no accepted applicants? I’ve read through a lot of these threads and haven’t found one COM applicant who was accepted. Is advertising that small of a program?

lol momacita…but for priority the grey box disappearing or staying held true for a lot of my friends and posters on here. now though since it’s not possible to be deferred again I don’t think the grey box has any meaning.it’s good her major didnt change

At this point in time I think the only thing that can be figured out is that those who had their major taken out on the application status and it now shows DGS will probably be accepted not in their original program but in department of general studies. Those that still have intended major listed will either be accepted or denied to that college but not be moved to DGS and damn the gray box.

Thanks for the clarification everyone.

@Illinifan, no you cannot get deferred again. Some colleges, however, do have a wait-list and it is possible to see a wait-list decision.

I got deferred as well and right now I have the grey box but my major still says LAS-History, so I assume that’s a good thing.

Good luck to everyone! Friday can’t come soon enough.

momacita- to answer your question about the college of media. It is very small. I believe they only enroll about 150 freshmen. The college of media only has about 1000 students.

Actually it is more like 200 freshman…but the point is it the college is small…

Well that explains why we haven’t heard from anyone who was admitted to COM. Again I heard it was all defer or deny. At least my D didn’t get denied on the December date. She’s got a few hooks so I’m hopeful but I’m still praying.

I bet they do defer just about everyone for COM to see the entire pool of applicants. Good luck to her! It won’t be long now! It is better than waiting until April like some other schools!!

Decision is due on Feb 17 (this Friday). Any particular time? Anyone knows what time it was done for EA or last year?

Just got an email today saying decisions will come out on Friday at 4:00 pm CST. Not soon enough.

Don’t forget you’ll need your application login ID and application PIN.

momacita, an automated email or an answer to your query, please?

I am guessing I was denied to ACES and not considered for DGS. The department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences only had a total of 187 in Fall of 2010. I guess I should’ve applied as undeclared.

Oh well. Nebraska, it is.

Good luck, all.
