So a message that said "your application is being carefully considered" popped up today. Does this mean they have made a decision? When can I expect to hear my decision?

Never mind! My online status just turned to accepted!

Congrats Aaronyah!! U of Minn is an outstanding university, and I’m sure you’ll love being a Gopher. Keep an eye on the housing application dates. I’d recommend you get your app in as soon as it opens up to ensure your best chance at getting your first choice for housing. Congrats again…and GO GOPHERS!!

Thanks Wolverine. I’m still waiting on a few other colleges so I’ll see my options when I get those decisions. Should I still apply for housing even if I’m not sure if I’ll go?

Aaronyah - Double check, but I think it is only a $25 or 30 risk to send in your housing app. If you can swing the extra cash, then i think it is worth the risk.

My son is a 2nd year elec engineering student and loves the U of Minn!

Question: Where did you see the “carefully considered” message on Application Tracker. All I see on mine is a yellow box that is basically just confirming my application is all complete and then the lower boxes that show that I have turned in all my things. Where is the actual status of my app on the page?

Just wondering when did you send on your app and was it just a regular app? I applied yesterday and was just curious. Also congratulations that’s awesome

Aaronyah…According to UMinn’s Housing website, the 2013-14 online applications will be available starting Nov 15th. I agree with Kajon, I’d recommend spending the $25 housing application fee to have the best chance at getting your first choice dorm assignment…especially if you have a particular preference for where you’d like to live.

Jack Maurice: you get the carefully considered status when they have made a decision.

Seabs: I turned everything in by mid September.

But where does it say it? Like location-wise on the page!

Should be at the very top. Here is a screenshot for reference.

I’m transferring there next semester.

Got it! When did it switch for you guys to something other than that “Thank you for your application” message? It has been almost a month for me and nothing has changed…

How long did it take from “Your application is being carefully considered” to the accepted status?

wkim0908…You should get a decision within a week. For some students, their application tracker will reflect their decision before any envelope arrives via snail mail but for others the letter will arrive in the mail first. Good Luck!!

My daughter’s status just changed to “your application is being carefully considered”. I hope that means a decision of being admitted is imminent!

Good Luck to your D LadyHam!! Historically that means she should hear something in the next several days. Keep an eye on her Application Tracker and the mailbox, and hopefully you’ll get some good news soon. Go Gophers!!

Thanks, Wolverine86! Some students from her high school that have lower stats than hers have already been admitted, so we are hopeful that it means that she is going to be admitted as well.

For what it’s worth my daughter’s timeline was:
- Submit application 10/20.
- Status change on website to “careful consideration” on 11/9.
- Acceptance letter received 11/16.
- Status change on website to admitted on 11/17.
Good Luck!!

My application tracker said “being very carefully considered” on Nov 16th and I received my acceptance letter today exactly 1 week later. Accepted into CBS, my stats are:
ACT: 31
UW GPA: 3.76
I also live in Wisconsin if that matters

My daughter received her acceptance in the mail today! On Novemeber 16th, her status changed to “being carefully considered”. Not sure when it changed online to accepted though. With Thanksgiving, my daughter had not been checking her status. She was thrilled to get her acceptance letter in the mail today! She was accepted into the college of science and engineering.
