This is the strangest thing. Today my D received a letter from Rowan in the mail stating that she has been awarded merit money. But she hasn’t gotten any acceptance letters yet! Has this happened to anyone else? She applied the end of Oct., app wasn’t downloaded until 12/16, like a lot of people here. BTW, NJ State schools seem very stingy this year w/ merit.
^^^^follow up to my above post. Called admissions and they said her packet went out 1/4. If I don’t receive it by Friday, they’ll resend it. I got very nervous seeing a thin envelope from Rowan. Thought it was a rejection or wait list since she had not gotten any other correspondence yet.
@jjmom1, you will likely receive acceptance tomorrow. My S got his letter with merit today and his acceptance yesterday so I think they are supposed to come a day apart from each other.
@elise303 - yes she did receive her acceptance today. They did come a day apart, but in the wrong order! :-?
also just called admissions, they said her decision was sent out 1/4, but they said if she doesn’t receive it by NEXT friday, to call them (i’d be calling on monday if we don’t hear anything by then)…hopefully today and hopefully admitted
Well … another odd thing just happened. My daughter received an email about her transfer credits. But still nothing about acceptance or merit. But the email says she can’t view her transfer credits without access until she’s admitted. The joke around the house is that the next email she’s going to receive is her application for graduation.
She’s emailed them about this, but has received no response. She would call, but I think she’s basically lost interest in Rowan at this point.
Finally got acceptance letter in the snail mail yesterday. Did get the credit transfer email a few days before though so I had a feeling it was coming.
@mommabear67, following and hoping your daughter received positive results from Rowan!
@tpcrd66 she got accepted! Thanks. Now we are waiting to see if there is any scholarship, admissions said it can take up to two weeks after acceptance for scholarship notification.
@mommabear67, Great news! My son is a junior at Rowan could not be happier!! I would be happy to answer any questions that you have if I can.
@tpcrd66 is there a lot to do on campus during the weekends?
@ilovenoodles, my DS is very involved in Rowan Radio so always busy with that and has a terrific group of friends who participate in an active intramural program, movie nights, trivia nights and lots of others as you will see here…http://www.rowan.edu/studentaffairs/studentactivities/events/
Perhaps good news for those waiting with not great stats: My son applied in mid/late December and received acceptance letter in mail yesterday. 3.4 GPA, 1130 new SAT, general studies. Didn’t ask for Fall '16 grades. Don’t expect any scholarships. Good luck everyone!
Still waiting on a response from Rowan. Daughter’s app was downloaded 12/15. Applied for Biomed Engineering. We have heard and accepted from George Mason, UD, and TCNJ. Is this unusual? Rowan had led us to believe that the turn around time was fairly quick since they are rolling admissions. We have called admissions about 2 weeks ago and it is complete and under review…We were hoping for an invite to the honors program…
My daughter (ChemE, applied 10/31, downloaded 12/15) is also still waiting. Admission told her that her application is complete and under review. Already accepted to Rutgers, UD, UMBC, and Manhattan. She’s done “admitted students” visits with all these schools and is likely down to Rutgers, UMBC, or UD, with more tours planned at each.
Short of Rowan sending one of the members of One Direction to her door with the admission packet, she’s done with Rowan. And I don’t blame her.
@mtown27, hold out for a beatles reunion!
I don’t blame your daughter either!! I am really disgusted with them! My daughter is still holding out as it is her first chioce… Maybe we will see you at UD next year. We are doing an admitted students at UD in April.
Hi Everyone. My S was accepted to Rowan, but we also had a ridiculous wait between audition and acceptance to the music program. Also got crazy information from admissions and different information from admissions and the honors program. It was all straightened out, but it was a needless hassle and also left a taste in our mouths.
Is your son attending Rowan?
We just heard back from Rowan. My daughter was accepted as a chemistry major. She had applied for biomedical engineering. I have a very upset girl. Which is understandable. She has a 1300 SAT, 3.8 unweighted GPA, has taken all IB classes and College Calculus this year. Also, is first in her class. I called admissions to see if they could review it. They had her SAT scores as an 1170??? What the heck!!! Is this school some kind of freaking joke??? Fortunately, they are making the correction and resubmitting the app. What a huge disappointment.
