has UT rejected any applicants?

I don't think so. They usually don't send out rejection letters until the very end of March. For example, two of my friends were rejected. One applied in September, the other applied in January. Both of them got their rejection (well--they both got CAPed but yeah) around March 28-31st.

But don't fret if it is the last week of March and you still do not know your decision. My friend got in March 25 or 26th of last year and she applied some time in October.

U of I U-C

About communications: a good friend of my s who is top 10% (I'm not sure exactly what, but she was an auto admit) got bumped from communications to liberal arts, but she is still going to UT and hoping to transfer into comm. as a sophomore.

libby - im assuming so.

ag54 - thanks for the info. i guess communications is a tough school to get into!

good news is that bealonghorn still has communications as my first choice school. bad news is still no answer.

funny story: i intern at the American Film Institute Silver and other day a package came in from guess where, UT Austin RTF school..im assuming it was a submission for the upcoming documentary festival. I was thinking 1) thanks for UT for not getting out of head and 2) i should write a letter saying "please accept me"

Only about three more weeks guys! Eep! And it's only 2 if you count Spring break. I'm getting really nervous...

They have got to know by now. Why couldn't they tell us before spring break?
This whole process--- from the $70 housing app fee that my parents paid a month before starting the TXCom App to the whole making me feel like a worthless turd because I'm not top 10% just blows.

^ I feel your pain. And yeah, I think by now 95% of all applications have been reviewed I mean, they aren't working during Spring Break and they have to get out all decisions in a two week period basically so they must be done with the vast amount by now. It just sucks waiting...BLAH.

I hope all this worrying and stress will pay off in the end. Not to mention the money. $50 Housing App fee + $60 App Fee + $ I spent to go to Longhorn Saturday which includes gas and hotel fees = WAY too much $ UT has already sucked out of me just to freaking apply to the school. And to think -- if I do get accepted I'll have to spend another $500 to enroll. $200 enrollment + $300 housing deposit. Geez...I didn't realize how EXPENSIVE it is to get into UT until now haha.

I visualize some hungover office worker coming in that Monday after Spring Break, taking a big sip off of their Grande Latte, aiming the mouse and...click.

HAHAHA yeah. It's just so nervewrecking. I've done everything possible to get into this school.

Emailed my counselor/called admissions/visited campus to show interest.

Worked on my essays since July.

Gotten 3 teachers recs

Sent in 2 expanded resumes

Worked my butt off to bring up my rank to send in second semester.

Wrote a letter of special circumstance cause I had depression/family issues/suicidal issues summer before/first semester of my Junior Year.

Took an SAT prep course + took the actual SAT three times just to try and get a high score to impress them since I'm not top 10%

I've said it before and I'll say it again...those top 10% kids have no idea how good they've got it...no idea...

what if you don't get in Libby?

I got into A&M so i'm definitely happy about that!

I don't know. It's not like I don't have options I've gotten into LSU (with great scholarships), UW-Madison, Baylor, Penn State, and Texas State - I am still waiting on UT and A&M.

I'm pretty positive I will get into A&M, but I don't like to think about what will happen if I don't get into UT. Obviously I've given it a thought, but it's just something I don't like to think about. As stupid as this is going to seem, one of the things that helped me get out of my depression/suicidal stage was my hopes of one day going to UT. Yeah, that sounds like the cheesiest and stupidest thing ever, but it's true. I haven't had the best life...I still suffer from depression but not to the point I have suicidal thoughts; I've also sought help for it.

Basically getting into UT has been the goal I've been working towards since I had a life changing moment one night. I just hope I can do it. :(

Good luck Libby...

I've spent countless time/dollars on UT. housing $50 fee + $60 + countless hours thinking/applying about/to UT + $10 on 2 transcripts + $45+ on taking a second ACT just so that I could give it to UT to reconsider if i'm denied + visiting $ + 2 expanded resumes since I wanted to add more the second time + 1 very strong teacher reccomendation (a teacher i've had half my life) + paid for an expensive SAT prep + I also worked my but off... averaged out to an A+ for my first semester grades with 3 AP classes.

I'm spending out of my family's tight budget just to get into this college! It will be SO disappointing if I don't get summer program atleast.

well Libby we are all rooting for you!!!!

libby - you got into some pretty impressive schools. penn state? you'll be near my homestate.

I got accepted A&M almost a month ago. im assuming you should hear back soon!

Libby-
I only know you from this board but you seem to have a great sense of humor and are obviously pretty smart to have gotten scholarships/ acceptances to those other schools. Don't tie your self-esteem to a brand (and yes, colleges are marketed brands like GAP or Banana Republic that seeks to have you identify with what they "represent").
We'll all succeed no matter where we go if only because we're all so nerdy that we spend Friday night on cc forums! ;)

uh-oh. is that status page major change really true ?!?!
because mine just switched to Liberal Arts from the last time I checked (which was 2 days ago)

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.

It's funny because I used to be top 15% and now my rank well...sucks haha. It's a little bit past top 25%. So when I tell people that I've gotten into schools like PSU, Madison, etc they're like REALLY?!?! Haha. Or when I tell people my SAT scores they are like ARE YOU SERIOUS?! YOUU GOT THATT?! hahah.

Tuff_Ghost yes it's true. Kristin confirmed this for us by calling Admissions.
