Well finally, my admission status says “complete.” I didn’t think my ALO interview status would ever change. By the way, my ALO came to my school for my interview at 2:10 and stayed until almost 5:30. Whew!

Anyway, my question is -
After my application has been reviewed, will the status change? It seems like I remember with my brother that the status said something other than just “complete.” I think it said something like “qualified” but I can’t remember.

It will change I think two more times. One to candidate and another to appointment offered I believe. Missmuff, Buckaroo and some of the 2012's can answer with a fresher memory.

Mine also says:
Your Status:
Candidate*
Your Application is:
Complete

Finally!!! I'm pretty sure the first board hasn't met yet, and if it has, it was within the last few days. I'm really looking for that LOA.

Speaking of the LOA, who do they give that out to? I've hear that it is primarily for athletes, and I've also hear it is for applicants of multiple service academies (get them before navy/army does). I have a candidate file in both USNA and USMA, but I will not be completing the application (never really wanted to go anywhere but the USAFA, just thought I'd keep my options open.)

it's given out to highly qualified candidates. some are athletes, some have other service academies on their list.. i wasnt an athlete, nor did i have a file anywhere else. just wait and see.. call your counselor to get the most up to date news, but you're done man.. ask if there's anything else you can do that'll put you over the top. now it's the old addage, "hurry up and wait" that you'll get so used to. good job :)

I'm pretty sure I'm going to waste more time constantly rechecking to look for updates than the application and nomination paperwork actually took.

Packetmatt...we can rock, paper, sissors each other while we wait.

Goodness gracious, children! Be patient! ;)

to ds and others...I have no clue when the status changed, lol. I was not a postman-stalker-type myself.

but like I said, don't even worry about it. You'll save yourself a lot of stress if you take a deep breath and mark a special time on your calendar once a week when you allow yourself to check your status. seriously. :)

Class of 2013: Get here soon so we can be nice to you... ;)

Class of 2014 and 2015: I think we can all agree we have a load of anger built up inside, i hope you stay up late at night thinking of youre least favorite numbers (2011 and 2012)... ;)

I never stalked the mail man, my drive way is a quarter mile long, too much work... I just got a huge surprise when I really needed it (day of a wrestling match so I was starving and the day before SAT's, which I didnt end up taking)... Concentrate on your other apps and youll have nom interviews coming up soon... Your letter will be there in no time... ;)

If I recall correctly they only update 1x a week and I think it is Wed or Thurs, so stalking everyday isn't going to help. I am pretty sure that it was Wed. night that it was changed. Boards met ly on Monday and then it took a few days for AFA to have inputted, thus making it Weds. or Thurs. Appointment offered via the mail usually showed up on Sat, so leave the poor mailperson alone until the end of the week.

Trust me you will quickly see when people get their appt. and the dates are easy to see which day of the week the board met. Until then sit back and enjoy the rollercoaster ride. Also make sure you have your back up plan too! Many things can occur between now and next June.

To Packermatt - When we were in Colorado and went by and met our son's admission officer, he said they will only take 3 letters of recommendation (as the packet said). He said one applicant had sent him 9 letters of recommendation and he (the admission officer) just had to pick out three to go in the selection board (which may have not been the 3 the applicant actually wanted to go to the selection board).

For all of the candidates remember that this is the military and one thing you need to do is follow orders. It can hurt you by not following the directions!

In the midst of all this remember to enjoy your senior year. It sounds like you have done all you can do, so now go out and enjoy your last year of hs. If you get into the academy you will need plenty of pleasant memories to get you through BCT!!!!

if you really want to, go for it. but it probably won't do anything extra, unless one of your teachers hates you and doesn't think you should go. then the extra possitive one, might outweigh the bad. but the Academy doesn't really care much besides academics. anybody can get some high-up officer to sign a letter, very bland because they don't really know you at all!
But it is just going to add more work and stress to life. just enjoy your senior year, it really flies by.
