I know a lot of us had statuses in preliminary review for extremely long amounts of time, anywhere up to 3 months, and I was wondering how do you think people in this category fair in terms of admissions. I personally have average stats, but very unique EC's, etc. so I don't think I was initally thrown into a 'reject' pile... I was also never asked for Mid-term grades, so I don't know what effect that will have. Were other people in my situation asked for mid-term grades?

Also, what is the difference between people who were asked for grades, and people who weren't? I personally don't think the USC admissions people would automatically reject people with OK stats without seeing their mid-term grades. Do you think they would?

Please help me out; I'm nervous.

I personally don't think think there has been enough consistency in updates to worry about them. Some people report going straight from preliminary review to receiving their packet. I sent my grades to them as soon as I had them, so they had no need to send me a letter. Don't start worrying about it, the acceptances have just started. Good luck to ya and keep the faith!

well if that was true, then they would have updated the "fall grades" status to adcom as well... don't you think?

Not necessarily, if the majority of their non updates were prelim people, they might have concentrated on that. I was stuck in prelim for almost 3 months before being updated on Wednesday, but I don't think I have any advantage over those in the Friday mass update.

haha sorry, i think i meant to post that response to someone else in a different thread... hahahaha. but that's interesting what you're saying. i may have sent mine in before they could have requested them. however, they had sent out requests to people before i sent them in... so i don't know... this whole status thing seems to be way more trouble than it's worth. i think once your file is complete, they should just say "you've done all you can do, we'll talk to you at the end of march!"

i hope they notify us with the next wave of people!
