<p>My sense, especially with the divorce rate so high, that wealthy parents who buy or contribute a lot of money to the purchase of such a large ticket item might very well strongly suggest (as in require), their child to take out a prenup. </p>
<p>The argument typically being that the money should stay aligned with being able to pass on to grandchildren (blood line), not to the divorced spouse’s pocket.</p>
