Stay in CE or change to architecture

Hello, I’m an international student, currently attending a cc. I’m intending to major in civil eng (maybe with emphasis in structure), but I’ve been getting Cs n Ds in my physics class (n it’s only a mechanics intro class). I’m okay with math (have taken calc 1 n 2 so far n got A n B respectively). So, I’m considering to change major to architecture (mainly because in high school, I took art n it’s the only one where I truly put a lot of effort n got an A2 in GCE O Level, while the rest, I.e. Science n math, only got Bs). So, should I change my major?

But, my problem is, a lot of university (offering architecture) cost (for oos or international) more than 50k per year while for engineering, it’s about 50k at max (I’m talking about schools like Purdue, VA Tech, etc not UCs). N I don’t want to burden my parents financially. In addition to that, many of them require portfolio n I don’t know what I should draw in a portfolio (in my cc, there’s only interior architecture classes so I’ve never taken any architecture or art class)

Please give me advice >_<. Thanks in advance

PS. I did not take physics in high school ._.

There are architecture schools that do not require a portfolio if they are aimed more at the tech side of architecture versus the creative side. I believe in the US there are about 135 architecture schools (I had researched this for my son) and not all of them require portfolios. I can’t remember where the master list is but its findable and you can look through admission requirements at each to see.

All art type schools teaching ARCH will require it. You also should go over to the Architecture forum here on CC and ask. Those folks will help you.
