I'm doing the Stay Over Program next Monday April 20, and I'm wondering what I can expect from it. Like, will I have to have things I want to see already in mind, or will my person have suggestions for me? Has anyone done it already? What did you get out of it?

You definitely don’t need to know exactly what you want to see, because your host will probably take you around and show you the school regardless.

However, it would definitely be helpful to have some questions and know what you want to get out of a visit. What do you care about most? campus life, the kind students that attend, what classes are like? Just focus on your priorities.

if you mean “the same” as in taking housing tours, etc., it’s not quite the same. what you do is really up to the host. s/he could take you around, grab lunch, check out multiple dorms, go to a club meeting or some kind of event happening at school, etc. plus you get to actually stay over and sleep in someone’s room

i just had my paticipated in the stay over program like a day ago :). It wasn’t just another repeat of “discover uci” it was more interactive. During my stay I basically got to go to some lectures/classes and just chill with some cool uci students. It was fun!!!

i didnt go to discover uci but sop is way better/funner than the campus/housing tours

your host may have plans for you but you can pretty much tell them what you want to see and they’ll usually try to take you there (arc, dining commons, etc)

as boring as it sounds, maybe even try to get in on a lecture with lots of students if you’ve never sat with 400+ other kids in one class, its freaky plus since the class is so big the prof usu dont mind if you just walk in

oh and whats better about sop is that discover uci is always positive whereas with sop you can get the real deal on life at uci
