staying awake in english class!!

i keep falling asleep in english class. how do i stay awake?
i have it 6th period and i'll be awake throughout the WHOLEEE DAY and even during my 7th period class. but the moment we read or analyze stuff in english, i just sleep. its terrible!! i've tried drinking water but in the end i am sleepy and drowsing off, but on top of that i have to go to the bathroom. -_-;;;
any suggestions????

i posted a thread like this about 2 months ago..you can look at my thread history or whatever and find it. It has some pretty good tips :)

thanks XCchick! i shall try the pinching ones tmr!

Bring mints to the class, bring some of those baby wipe things and put it on the back of your neck, that can do wonders

Something to think about, where is the class, is the air circulation good> Sometimes, if the air is stale, and there isn't enough oxygen, that can make you sleepy

Ask if you can change seats to near the door or window to get better air

Try eating a banana (even a few bites) might perk you up

Or a few sips of OJ (heres a trick- take a small water bottle, fill it half with orange juice, freeze, by class time it will be melted but cold)

Another thing, is 6th right after lunch, and what do you have for lunch, that can be affecting you as well

i hav 5th period right after lunch. SOMETIMES i fall asleep there but mostly its just 6th period. for lunch... i eat a sandwich (ham/cheese, tuna). its nothing too heavy its nothing too light. sometimes i eat rice-rolls with avocado and crab meat inside. or sometimes lasagna. lol. but it seems to be that any type of food makes me sleepy sometimes. even at home after i eat a meal i feel a little drowsy. oh no my parents have been drugging my food! X_X hahaha

ah thanks for these tips!!

it could be about that time, 45 minutes after eating, your tummy is working away and you are getting sleeeeppyyy

but seriously, bad air can make you tired, and if its in the same classroom, that can do it

in malls, they used to not circulate the air enough, and people weren't getting enough O2...so something to think about

Or it could be that we're all still awake at this hour (2am here). Err, at least I am.

Yeah me too...3 am though. . . damn i hate this, i wish i could just sleep on time just for one night without any naps or staying up or sleeping in or anything. Just a normal 9 hr sleep night.

Eat chocolate before you go to class or a shot of espresso would do the trick :P

I have the same problem. I have English class 9th period, and it's only worse.

why stay awake? just dont get in trouble and its fine.

omygah i tried to pinch myself on my inner elbow today during english
its ridiculous today our couneslors came to talk about our midyear reports and financial aid and such. it wasnt even a n english lecture. and no matter how much water i drank no matter how much i pinched myself my brain shut down on me. my eyes were "opeN" but i heard words without comprehending them. so ihav no idea what went on in class today. ARGHHH i hate sleeping in classsssss. i was awake for ALLLL my other classes EXCEPT english! whats wrong with me!! X_X
i stopped taking naps at home and i get like6 hours of sleep (muchh better compared to 3 during 1st semester)

whats wrong so what sleep during school
we're done with school, nothing else matters.

The REAL solution is to change you sleeping habits. Why treat the symptoms when you can eliminate the cause of the symptoms? Make sure you get 7-8 hours of continuous sleep during the night. Learn to manage your time more effectively and do not procrastinate.

2 words: Red Bull

sniff white out, jk...haha i have the same problem but ive pretty much given up

My friends always poke me right before I can fully fall asleep...gotta love them, gotta hate them. 1st period I have no friends : (, so I sleep good. Ahhhhhh.

HAHA i have the same problem in spanish.

DOODLE :) haha.

how about not eating lunch and eating it in class?

what about the classroom itself? Some rooms put me in a coma, the air os so bad. Tell me about the room. is it warm? that can make you sleepy.
