Staying in contact with company after accepting an internship

Hello, this winter I was offered and accepted an internship offer at a local energy company in my city which will be the first internship of my college career. Our last correspondence was in December when I emailed an HR rep with the company confirming that they got my acceptance.

Since roughly two months have passed should I start making it a point to get and stay in touch with the company until I begin working in June? Who should I email? During my on-site interview I sat and spoke with 8 different heads of departments, ultimately ending with the person who is in charge of the company's internship program. I'm assuming the best thing to do is email that person? And what would be an appropriate thing to talk about in a "just checking up" type of email?

Any suggestions from people who have been in this position before would be great!

I was in this position before. I would just send an email saying: ‘dear _, This is _… I am currently making plans for this summer and would like some more information regarding this internship so that I can plan accordingly. Thank you.’ or something like that.

Do you have any questions that are still outstanding? Do you need to coordinate housing or anything else major?

There’s really no need to keep in touch unless you have questions… you’ve already accepted the offer, and your likelihood of being given a return offer depends ENTIRELY on what you show when you are there this summer.

Thanks for that suggestion j89!

@chris: I don’t really have any questions per say. I guess I was just concerned about being perceived negatively for accepting the offer and then disappearing until the first day of work. Perhaps I’m over thinking things?

So you wouldn’t recommend contacting them without reason?

You’re overthinking things. If you feel like saying hello, go for it! But there’s no NEED to do anything. You were hired to do a job, and that’s the bottom line. Someone from HR will probably contact you the week before you start to give you some details on time, location in the office, etc. If that doesn’t happen by two days ahead of your start date, definitely reach out.

For once, you can actually relax :)

Alright, I guess I’m so eager to begin I felt a need to let them know such haha. Thanks for the awesome advice Chris!
