How do you stay motivated to do homework? I find it so much harder to want to do homework this semester than last semester. I think i still might be on "vacation" even though we already 2 weeks into the semester. I think my classes are interesting I just find it hard to want to do the work, which I had no problem doing last semester. I am taking mostly the same classes, calc 2, physics (e&m) 2, chem 2, and econ.

hole up in the library sans laptop, bring snacks and drinks to reward yourself, and giterdun

My motivation: pharmacy school. I'm taking 18 credits this semester, 12 of which are science classes. If I get all A's it'll look amazing and boost my PharmCAS GPA up to ~3.575. Good stuff.

Imagine that you get to sleep with a very hot girl if you get straight As. That'll motivate you for a while. If you're a girl then imagine Brad Pitts or someone you girls worship.

Well, I also need to have at least a 3.0, but my first semester didn't really go that well. I got a 2.67. I think that might have discouraged me a little, because it wasn't like I didn't work last semester. I did and still didn't do good enough. Anyway, I'm slowly starting to get motivated again. I think spending this weekend at home helped a lot.

The way I look at it,

The better grades you have the more likely you are to get an internship/a job.

I was doing terrible at the start of college but then I realized that I only have one chance at the college experience. I don't want to regret the fact that I didn't study harder in college when I am 30 or 40...

Adderall. Seriously, if I take an adderall and start doing schoolwork or reading, I get so into it sometimes I end up doing more than I needed to. It definitely has its drawbacks, but adderall is still awesome.

Get a prescription for some amphetamines. I'm sure your insurance will cover it.

adderall is god. just used it last night. finished a 7 page research paper in 9 hrs from 12am-9am. it was a win win situation…

A bigger question is how to stay motivated from within yourself. External motivations are fine, but not ideal. Success, no matter how you define it, is a powerful motivator. But having been on both sides of the student/professor fence, I think the really important motivator is making knowledge your own and applying it to projects you think are important, not just problem sets, term papers, and exams. The really valuable goal is to leave college with something more than a diploma. Look for general principles in every course. How could they be used to solve the world’s problems? Take the risk of asking questions of professors after their lectures. Ask what they think, what they are working on - not because they might look on you favorably in the future, but because the quickest way to learn is to ask experts what they think is important, and then work with those ideas until you’ve made them your own. You all have unique viewpoints. The real world is in trouble. What are you learning in each course that could help you solve a huge problem? Bottom line: stay motivated by recognizing real-world problems whose solution matters to you. What should you work on? I have no idea. But if the reason you are studying is because you want to cure a major disease, promote tolerance in the world, make health care work, halt global warming, write a novel that opens our minds and hearts, write or play music that makes us realize why we are human, find a way to regulate capitalism that kills fraud without killing innovation, help your fellow human beings love themselves and one another, foster better teaching or better parenting, or accomplish anything at all that has never been done before, then you will never run out of motivation.

Adderall is for cheaters.

Someone who crams for a test on just coffee is a lot more badass than the speed junkies. It takes more fortitude, period.

I’ve always had more trouble at finding motivation during the spring semester than during the fall semester… and this is my third year in university.

i imagine escaping this place called suburbia if i do very well in my classes

Motivation:

The future

Possible UCLA and UCB?

motivates me to work hard for a good education!
