If the avg on exam one 54.0 with std 15.4 and I made a 44, what letter grade did I get?
If the avg on exam two 54.7 with std 12.5 and I made a 45 what is my letter grade?
It depends on what grade your school curves to. At my dd’s school, the average is curved to a C.
You are within one standard deviation below for both tests so you’d have a D or D- on both exams at her school.
Talk to your TA or professor to clarify the grading scale.
The avg is a B
this was not what i thought this post would be about.
Okay
Is this a quiz? Are you asking us to guess?
fwiw, SD is the typical abbreviation for standard deviation.
Every professor will be different. The latest curve my D showed me had 56% A&B’s, so average was a B but at the lower end.
Your 2 scores are .65 and .78 SD below mean, or 64% and 78% - those would be a mid C and a high D.
But again, every prof is different. And normal distributions often exists in textbooks - not so much real life small populations.
