perhaps somebody can weigh in on this -- i've heard from multiple people that ucsd has the highest std per capita ratio in the country, and my friend refuses to believe it...i cant really find anything definitive online, but has anyone else heard about this??

in advance, sorry if i'm off base, and im not trying to put a damper on ucsd or offend anyone who goes there -- because i could be totally wrong, but its just something ive heard a lot and want to know if its true

You're kidding me... are you getting confused with UCSB?

It might be true, but it might not be true. But why does it matter? In general it's common knowledge that college campuses have a great number of stds so it's important to be careful. (My nagging side is revealed on the internet. :])

I don't see how the ratio, if true, could be accurate. How would stds be calculated when it would be diffcult to gather the numerous reports (not to mention the number of stds that would not be reported.) I think it's a rumor.

You're thinking of SDSU (aka STDSU, the one with the cocaine busts).

ill go ahead and say what i heard was most likely a rumor -- as to why it matters, it doesnt really in this context, but sexually transmitted diseases on campus are a big deal -- perhaps it is ucsb or sdsu though, however i was fairly certain the person who told me referred to ucsd as ucstd haha...nonetheless thanks for the responses ;)

Not true at all, ucsd probably has one of the lowest std per capita ratios, it is a pretty "nerdy" school, especially compare to sdsu which has a much more vibrant party life.

youre probably thinking of caltech where every other person has an STD

It's not referred to University of Casual Sex and Beer for no reason =P
