Hi, I'm a highly motivated junior in high school and i just learned about these combined college programs for those wanting to be doctors. First off i have no clue the difference between BS/MD BA/MD and OD?

ALSO what kind of program should i be looking at with this kind of resume.

Heres some of my stats
4.11 weighted GPA
29 on ACT ( first time taking, shooting for 31-32)
AP Classes - US History, Chemistry, Calc, Statistics, Gov, Physics.
Top 5%

EC's
Soccer (captian)
Lacrosse
National Honor Society President
All Trimest Scholar of Distinction (GPA >4.0)
Math Team
Service Letter
100 Hours of Hospital Volunteering
Summer Leadership Camps

ALSO I heard theres some programs where you go through an honors program and have a guarenteed spot for their med school. The program I heard of was at SLU.

Any input helps.
Should i be taking SAT II

First off, ure GPA and work load seems good. Lots of AP classes are good, especially if you can keep that GPA with all of them- try to get 4’s and 5’s on your AP’s though
the act score has to be higher though, most programs accept ACT scores ranging from a 32 (pretty rare) to the 36, the average probably being a 33
Pretty good extra curriculars, but you might need a little bit more service and you need to demonstrate more of an interest in medicine- see if you can do research or shadow a doctor
Finally, programs: SLU is a good program, but not necessarily guaranteed since you have to do an interview i believe your junior year. try for some 7 year or even 6 year programs. Somewhere in this thread, there are a bunch listed. The best way is to buy a book though that talks about these programs, and goes into more detail about how to get into them

hope that helps

Are all the programs as selective or are there some that are easier to get into than others

Oh ya, does the University of Wisconsin at Madison or University of Minnesota have any sort of combined program or honors programs because they both have medical schools?
