Does anybody know how this scholarship would impact the land grant for NYS Residents? Would the tuition be reduced by the typical cost of SUNY tuition or would it be more?

I believe it only applies to SUNY institutions, which Cornell is not. The contract schools are not part of SUNY. Note that Cornell’s tuition for NYS residents is not the same as any of the SUNY institutions either. Cornell’s tuition for the contract schools is about $16,000 less than full Cornell tuition (about $31,000 instead of $47,000).

I stand corrected. See the attached:

Interestingly, the original announcement in May did not mention Cornell or Alfred U.

However, the tuition adjustment is a little confusing. It looks like Cornell’s tuition would be reduced by the tuition charged at a SUNY school, but the SUNY schools tuition varies and is around $6000. It’s not clear if the tuition of $31,000 would be awarded (seems doubtful).

I would be surprised if they award the full $31k, but then again, what do I know? I’d call the number from the link that blprof attached and ask.

Thank you for responding. I am going to call the number posted and see what they tell me. I suspect that the land grant portion will be reduced by about $6,000 which is the tuition ( approx) at the SUNYs, but you never know.

The August 15 deadline…is that the August before enrollment in college or the August before senior year of high school? I’m assuming the former, but it would be a terrible surprise if it were the latter .
