Stem related summer activities?

Hello CC people,
I’m almost finish with freshman year in hs. I’ll have a 4.0 uw gpa by the end of this semester. But I don’t know what to do during summer?!!
Ok so this is my plan:
-I’m taking Spanish at Community College.(So I’ll be moving to Spanish 3 when I’m a soph)
-I’m taking SAT prep courses.
-I’m volunteering for my local library.
-Also I’m in Girl Scouts.
I love STEM!! But I’m not doing any activities relevant to it!!
Can u guys suggest some camps/activities/workshops/etc?
Not just for this summer but for other summers as well! I need some help here! Thanks

Reading the book “How to be a Highschool Superstar” has helped me chase my passions in science so far. I suggest you pick it up or even stop by at your local library to read it.

The Operation Catapult camp at Rose-Hulman is a good activity for summer after junior year if you don’t have something else lined up when the time comes. Three weeks where you work on a STEM-related project (engineering or CS), and also learn about different types of engineering majors and careers.

Does your school have FIRST Robotics, or can you get involved at a nearby school? They don’t have a lot going on in the summer, but you could spend time getting up to speed on last year’s problem and the general format/rules of the process so you could hit the ground running with a team next fall.

Consider taking some MOOCs to build technical skills. I am taking a free Python course right now through Udacity (yup, I am a parent, but want to learn Python!). There are lots of CS type courses online for free, and you can get certificates if you finish them. One of my kids took a MOOC and got the certificate, and listed it in the additional information section of her Common App college application (the Common App at that time did not have anyplace else to list it, since it was not a for-credit class).

Are you working on your GS Silver or Gold Award? Focus on something technology if you are.
