My son is awaiting a decision from Rollins, but we're not sure how good a school it is for someone very science-oriented. (he got into FL Tech and Eckerd, applied to U Miami and Tulane).

Not much activity on this board but I thought I'd give it a shot.

My S is an Honor’s Econ graduate from Rollins. From what he told me the science dept is outstanding but very rigorous. Physics and pre med are especially difficult. The classes are very small with a great deal of individual attention. If your son wants to be a science major he will need to be prepared to work hard to succeed. My recollection is that Rollins is performing a multi million dollar upgrade of the bush science center.
Rollins is great school for those who are motivated, that being said there are a lot of distractions as is true for most colleges. My S found the proper balance and got in to a top grad school program.

I am a freshmen physics major at Rollins. Coming into Rollins I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but it turned into one of the best decisions I could’ve made. The physics department is really small (around 20) however because of this all,of the physics teachers already know me and the other freshmen. The work load is hard but really rewarding. They also try to get all students (including freshmen) the opportunity to do paid research with the faculty throughout the summer. I do not know that much about the other science departments at Rollins, however some of my friends are bio-chem majors and they all seem to be really enjoying it. Although a small school, Rollins really has a great science program with opportunities that many larger colleges cannot offer. Also, the renovations on the Bush science building should be finished by the end of this school year.
