STEP vs. Orientation

If I signed up for STEP, should I sign up for Orientation just in case I am not admitted to the STEP program?

Do you know what STEP and EOP are? I have gotten e-mails about them but don’t really get the gist of the programs…

I’m not really sure myself…all i really know is that EOP students are low income and we’ll get extra help financially (SIR fee waived!) and help from advisors to pick classes, etc.
STEP seems like some sort of program to close the achievement gap? I don’t really get it…I’m also not doing it…from the description it made it sound like EOP students are remedial or something xD
no offence to @loveflies! It just seems too time consuming (4weeks! geez).
Also I don’t think you are competing to get in the STEP program. Once you sign up, you’re in.

I signed up for STEP. I want to go there early, to actually accommodate to my new life in college. Plus I have nothing to do during the summer, literally. This summer is going to be a long one ( 4 months it’s just crazy )…

@iamawesome27, are you sure you’re in right away? they said that they will notify you in may or june?

@lovefliesx3, you’ll have time to apply don’t worry. They will notify you (if you get in or not into STEP) by June something. There will be always spaces available for you at orientation. The only thing is that you have to apply 2 weeks before you’re orientation dates.

Oh sorry! My bad. It turns out that you aren’t guaranteed admittance…

apparently only half of the people who apply get in the program ! xD
goodluck to you both!
