Stephen King: Twilight author 'can't write'

Stephen King says ?Twilight? author ?can't write? - Access Hollywood - msnbc.com

That's a little slap in the face. Good job!

Good for him.

I agree…

The difference between Stephen King’s level of writing and Stephenie Meyer’s is as big as that of the Mona Lisa and a monkey smearing feces on the wall…

and J.K. Rowling IS a much better writer than Meyer…

Haha, what?

Anyways, I think Stephen King is just jealous.

twilight is the worst book i’ve ever read. totally agree.

whatever, stephen king’s it scared the **** out of me when i was like eight

Yeah I’m tired of people calling Twilight “the new Harry Potter.” It truly isn’t.

It’s about time somebody said it.

Supposedly, that Robert Pattinson (or whatever his name is.) doesn’t like Twilight either.

lol TELL ME ABOUT IT. Thank goodness somebody else has a brain, I’m tired of telling my Lit class that Stephanie Meyer can’t write to save her life… lol.

Oh, thank God, there are people who understand. I read the first three books (after reading the synopsis of the fourth one, I couldn’t bear to waste any more time on the series and left it at that) so I feel authorized to say that her writing is crappy. But oh, throw in phrases like “do I dazzle you?” and “he chuckled, amused,” and the entire teenage (and even adult) demographic loses all sensibility. She’s a somewhat decent storyteller…but a terrible writer.

I hate those Twilight books so much and I agree with King. I don’t really care for Rowling’s style of writing, but at least she’s creative. And to whoever said Stephen King is jealous, he has nothing to be jealous of. He’s an incredibly talented author and Meyer is a horrible writer who made money by writing a book that appeals to mindless teens. There’s just no comparision there.

hahahahaha I love you SK <333

yeah seriously…totally NOT the new harry potter. i’m an undying HP fan (in fact, my username actually comes from harry potter — crystalized pineapple, slughorn’s favorite food)

i read the wikipedia thing that summarized all of the books. the name they gave their kid…hahahahahahaha

I’ve never read even a sentence from one of the books in the Twilight series and I never will.

Good. Twilight sucks.

I’ve read Stephen King and I’ve read Stephenie Meyer and the latter is superior. Perhaps not by conventional literary standards, but in terms of enjoyment, the ability to compel, to attach the readers emotionally to vivid characters… Twilight wins out.

I got 103 pages into “Twilight” and couldn’t take it anymore. Tossed it right back in the return bin the next day. It was just…so shallow. Everything was predictable and two-dimensional. It needed about 100 mil times more depth to begin the path to decent literature.

I’m glad Stephen King finally pointed it out to the public. Even though horror isn’t my favorite genre, and will never be, I think King is freaking awesome. ;)

Keshira: What SK have you read?! ‘Enjoyment’ and ‘ability to compel’ are subjective, so I won’t go there, but King’s works lacking ‘vivid characters’?! Pretty sure King is one of the very best at character development, not only better than Meyer.

Keshira; eat my shorts.

Everything is perspective in literature, which is why I find it rude–and foolish–for authors to denigrate each other’s work.

I cared more for Meyer’s characters, and that is subjective as well.
