Stephen Lynch Music?and audition fear!!

Maybe I shouldn't be posting this on the Musical theater board but i'm new to this so bear with me.

I am auditioning for the Chicago Unifieds, which are quickly approaching...I know my Monologues and have worked very hard on them and feel pretty good about myself on them. I am auditioning for SUNY Purchase, NC ARts, UArts, and Roosevelt. I am auditioning for their Acting programs and for SUNY Purchase and NC ARts you have to sing a little bit. Now, they say that they don't care if it's from a show. I know this is ridiculous but I have really struggled to find something that vocally shows me off. I was wondering...is it innapropriate if I were to sing Stephen Lynch's Superhero just the opening part...there is nothing offensive in that opening part and its amusing and maybe memorable? Just wondering your thoughts. I am just nervous that i'll bomb on the singing part and it's not that i have a bad voice but its just nerveracking and i'm just so nervous for this whole thing. anyways good luck to everyone else.

I think these schools are looking to hear your vocal range more than a "good singing voice". You could sing Happy Birthday and that would probably be fine! My best advice would just be to sing something you're completely comfortable with and just relax...the success of your whole audition will definitely not be dependent on how well you sing.
