Just wondering if anyone has any info on the 2 year professional training program at Steps on Broadway? My D is finishing up an associates degree in dance at a small NE college but does not want to continue on for a BA. Traditional school is just not her thing. She wants to continue her dance training but with no academic classes. We've looked at Boston Conservatory but at $56,000 a year that's just not possible. Anyone know anything about the Steps program or any other professional training program for dance?

I know when our dance studio would travel to NYC, some dancers would go to Steps and others to Broadway Dance Center. From my understanding, STEPS was for upper level dancers. My dd was always too young those trips. We have taken many classes at BDC though which my dgt loves. We have had several of our dancers go through the training program and found it amazing. I know that most of those dancers did get paying gigs afterwards. I believe you can do one for a few months at a time. The information is listed on the website.

Are you open to the west coast? Lines has a nice program. [Alonzo King LINES Ballet](http://training.linesballet.org/about/)

In addition to STEPS, there is also Peridance. They have some sort of certificate program.

My DD has a friend who left Manhattan Marymount after her freshman year to join the Steps program. She spends a lot of time auditioning and has made so many connections. For her it has been a good move but money is not an issue for her family. They can afford for her to live in NYC in an apartment and not have to hold a part time job. This girl is also a contemporary dancer.

Steps on broadway has some great instructors, for example, Edward Ellison teaches there on Sundays.
Peridance also has great teachers, I believe Francois Perron teaches a few classes there.
