ok, so I'm starting to realize that aside from the "cost of attendance", UCI will hit us with charges any time/any way possible.
-To "tell" them that you "plan" to register, you must pay $100.
-To submit initial housing app (name, birthdate, nothing special) costs $20
-To attend the REQUIRED orientation program (SPOP) costs $190 !!
-To take the placement tests you are required to take before you attend the required spop, you must pay about $60 per test.
I just think a school should try to accomodate its students if it really wants them to attend. It seems that UCI is taking advantage of the fact that it has soooo many students/applicants willing to attend.
What the bleep?!

^ do u know if u can get a few waivers?

Im getting the SIR waiver…

I know that you can get a “scholarship” or cost reduction for SPOP if you qualify for financial aid. And apparently the SIR, like you said.
My family’s income is not THAT high; it seems like the financial aid distribution is exponential. as if after a certain income level you cease to recieve ANY sort of financial assistance Irritating. Hopefully everyone else is having better luck!
anyways, I’m still excited to attend Irvine. See you all there!

Well, the SIR payment of $100 will be deducted from your Fall quarter tuition fees, so it’s not really anything extra.

There is only a fee for the analytical writing test. There aren’t fees for the other ones.

the orientation isnt required but it is highly recommended and most freshmans attend it anyways because you register for classes, take photo ids, etc etcc

but i agree… dam those fees

how do you get a fee waiver for SIR?

LAWCHA, the orientation is not required? You sure about that? Can you call in to set up classes and change major if necessary? OOS tuition is so so expensive, plus the airline ticket. It would be good to save a little money.

im curious when we get to register for housing hmm anyone know?

havefaith^^

IF u do EOP

and like if u got a waiver for applying (app fee waiveR)

Lawcha, Im copying and pasting this directly from UCI SPOP website:

If you are a freshman, SPOP is mandatory.

Twangerine - I still thinks it is silly to have registration fees (I realize this is not uncommon, Im just ranting). Seriously we’re aready going to pay for the classes. If you think about it, we have to pay to pay for classes ? ha ha
