Stereotypes about Harvard

Haha you will! :] Don't let your faith down! Hey if you ever need me you can contact me on AIM. :P Feel free to talk to me! ^_^ See you!

I am not going to attend Harvard, but I was admitted.

I was very luck in admissions--beyond anything I expected. My guess is there are no known factors that access admission to Harvard or any of the other competitive schools beyond stats and recommendations. As to passion, this would apply to any school with very competitive admissions. Certainly, more people apply to Harvard and fewer are accepted than at almost any other school.

I’m not so sure that all the people who end up attending Harvard do so because they were passionate about Harvard--even if their application showed “passion.” Again, this would be true at most selective schools, although at Harvard I suspect that many end up picking Harvard, from amongst their other acceptances, not because Harvard was the perfect school for them, but because it is the most “prestigious” school to their family, peers and high school administration and was therefore the ‘default choice’ (they won't be attending--you will!), this may be one of the factors contributing to Harvard’s student body reputation for depression/unhappiness.

Not of course for all students, but some. It was a difficult choice for me, not because I was ambivalent, but because I knew I would face a whole lot of those ‘why not Harvard,’ ‘why not Yale’ comments and questions, as I am sure many others do.

I was ranked 1st in my class, and I have high 1500 SAT I and high SAT II’s. I had a number of leadership positions (president/captain) and was actively and (too) passionately involved in an important project in my own community. I’m an athlete and I was recruited, but I made it clear to my coach that I had decided not to play at the college level (hockey) and this was passed along.

Good luck, but be realistic (and make sure it is what YOU really want).

Kalidescope if you dont mind me asking which college are you going to then...if ur not goint to Harvard...and why not Harvard?

Dont worry Harvard is not the school I just want to go to because of its prestige...I actually want to go to the Med School...my grandfather when to the sister school of Harvard Med in Japan and I plan on to get my dr. license both here and Japan...but going to Harvard undergraduate would also be a dream come true...I mean its the first college made in the U.S. several...many... of our presidents went to the school...and its name...just draws attention...its students are diverse...its teachers i bet are phenomenal...its in Boston...a city FULL of culture...and its a great place for students who are motivated to learn...or so I hope...it just seems the right school for me...or so I hope

:] Whoa Summergal you and I have the same dream almost. :]

Summergal,

I'm going to my 1st choice: Dartmouth
