SO what have u heard about the sororities so far? It's anonymous so no one will know if you break the rules!

Well, one of my friends who is also pre-med had a really hard time finding study partners because she really wore the sorority “image”. Nobody really had respect for her in our classes. I know that’s a big problem for a lot of those people. They have a hard time making friends outside Greek system.

Bad idea to be asking about this, especially in the midst of formal recruitment!

Based on your posts, I gather that you just started, and you’re already breaking the rules on something that’s taken very seriously.

You should really look at sororities based on how well you fit with them rather than just reputation, as the reputations are volatile, have little to no modern-day basis, and are several degrees removed from the truth. This distorted truth is no way to make a serious decision.

If you really want to know, it better be for nothing more than laughs, and you’ll find out yourself sooner or later.

I’ve pretty much decided what sororities are on the top of my list. But it’d be interesting to see what people think about them. It’s like asking what people are like at Berkeley…you obviously go there and see for yourself but it’d be interesting to see what people think.

I agree with excelblue, honestly.

No, it’s more like asking what you think about individual people at Berkeley. Asking about the Greek system in general is more similar to asking “what people are like at Berkeley.” Then, there’s a difference between stereotypes and accurate generalizations.

If anything, don’t you have the tact to wait until after recruitment? And, in any case, this is something you discuss in person, never in writing!

an off-topic but still relevant note about the Greek system in whole, if you wish to respect Alcohol regulation laws it wise to stay away from the Greek system.

Also, apparently Cal Greeks can’t spell, as their political party in ASUC is called Unite Grssk

the greek system is kinda lame around here. parties are obviously fun and the members are usually chill but ppl take it too seriously and no one really cares.

yeah I got chosen for sororities that I couldn’t imagine myself in but oh well. I guess I’ll see if I like it once I join. It was a bummer though for the first two hours : /

Is that based on your preconceptions, or is it based on your impression during recruitment? In any case, it’s barely been a couple days. Keep an open mind.

No, it was definitely because of recruitment. I got along so well with those girls and could barely find topics to talk about with the ones I didn’t like but I got chosen for those. However, I like the ones that I didn’t like yesterday so I have a chance to narrow it down more tmw. Thanks though.
