Stereotyping by College Major

<p>Wants to make a lot of money (introduce her male co-workers to chicks) and work in a male-dominated fields vs. wants to be like Ms. Frizzle, only slightly less crazy.</p>

<p>Double major in History & English as a Second Language Education</p>

<p>Thinks they need a major to go and teach English in Asia.</p>

<p>Classics</p>

<p>Likes to read classics, doesn’t have a plan beyond reading classics.</p>

<p>Biochemistry.</p>

<p>Stuck in 2008 biotech boom that failed. Future Walter White.</p>

<p>Navajo</p>

<p>Likes to play lacrosse and wants to learn how to throw a tomahawk, also has long hair, car has dream-catcher hanging of rear-view mirror, and is adept at languages. </p>

<p>International Business and GSCOM(Global Supply Chain and Operations Management) with minor in Chinese</p>

<p>Wants to work at Amazon/Apple/Microsoft</p>

<p>Classics</p>

<p>Wants to be able to say that nobody has read Homer if it’s not in Greek.</p>

<p>Global studies</p>

<p>Someone who uses the above fancy term to describe their non-disciplinary liberal arts degree. Alternatively, this could also be an IR-lite major. </p>

<p>(I’ve seen Global Studies as both things before.)</p>

<p>Math</p>

<p>Makes fun of engineers for confusing memorizing formulas with “doing math”.</p>

<p>Geology</p>

<p>Wanting to go digging for treasure.</p>

<p>Latin American Studies</p>

<p>Guy who wishes it was Latina Studies. Or a Hispanic person who was adopted by a non-Hispanic family.</p>

<p>Liberal Studies/Elementary Education</p>

<p>The easiest of the education majors, for people who are not good students but may or may not be good teachers. Automatically assumes little kids are easy to teach because they are cute and small. Usually has no idea what they are really in for.</p>

<p>Nutrition</p>

<p>I kinda resent that stereotype even though I’m not in that major. But I’m going to a school where they graduate a lot of those majors.</p>

<p>Nutrition - Thinks they’ll like it but they won’t. Probably will switch majors during the last week they possibly can into something that seems almost random.</p>

<p>Liberal Studies/Special Education (5 year masters program)</p>

<p>Hipster teacher who thinks teaching special ed will somehow make her a better person.</p>

<p>Economics on premed track.</p>

<p>Will fall off premed track.</p>

<p>Tourism</p>

<p>Wants to travel the world, dreams of other places</p>

<p>Underwater Basket Weaving
(It is only a class, but if you could get a degree in it)</p>

<p>D1 football player, will declare for draft early.</p>

<p>Dual major in Chemistry and Business.</p>

<p>Wants to work in pharmaceuticals someday; really just wants to make money while hating their job.</p>

<p>Wants to spread awareness to everyone, whether it’s giving vaccinations in Chicago or Africa. Likes to talk about health. Doesn’t get paid as much as any other healthcare worker.</p>
