Stereotyping by College Major

BME - an Asian kid whose dad wants them to be an engineer and mom wants them to be a doctor. lol

finance

I know two biomedical engineering majors, neither of them is the slightest bit nerdy, you would never assume from looking at them that they are engineering majors of any kind.

re finance: Didn’t have the brains to get into STEM, but will wind up making five times as much as them anyway (by rent-seeking).

Art therapy

Wants to provide emotional support for people that majored in Art, and then realized they wasted 100k+ and have no job outlook.

Since the person above me didn’t post a new major to go off from, I’ll just add another major:

Environmental Studies

hates real science, hates the thought of having a job, too dumb to get into engineering or business or anything else meaningful, probably a lib arts major because env studies usually is, hates the thought of having a job, parties 4 days of the week

english: graduated bottom third of his class, hates reading but couldnt think of anything else to major in, too stupid to get into anything else, hates working, can’t think critically or abstractly and wants to be unemployed and run an incense store out of his mom’s basement

biomedical engineering

Don’t Feed the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–

Environmental Studies:

Wants to try to save the world. I’m taking Environmental Ethics right now and whenever I walk out of the lecture hall I see the largest concentration of females on campus (that I see). It’s amazing to see attractive girls in your class. Coming from engineering it’s suprusing just to see a girl…

folklore studies

Probably into ā€œthe old country,ā€ wherever that is for them. Likes literature, but not as much formal literature. Was probably very excited when they found out this major existed.

Philosophy and Formal Logic.

^Me.
Couldn’t get enough logic in a regular philosophy course, so split the two up. Now, has trouble finding higher level logic courses.

Petroleum Engineering and Chemical Engineering double major

Soon to be in the obituaries.

Music Performance.

lol, music performance

on the PE ChemE guy. I would say some one who realizes energy is where it’s at. They are gonna go into PE for some cash, then when that dries up they can switch to ChemE and work on new energy solutions.

Music Performance - Spends all day and night practicing various pieces and sight-reading music.

Native American Studies

Hasn’t visited Pine Ridge, SD. If you had that would easily be worth four years of Native American Studies.

Aerospace Engineering (Not a Trekkie or WoW freak or anything like that, so please be original)

A jet fighter/space travel freak.

Asian studies.

Asian-American journalist/blogger -type. Probably female. Probably attractive.

Uh…Studio Art.

^ The kindergarten of college degrees

Mathematics/Physics

A mad quantum space guy

Academic type music degree

A nerdlinger constantly banging his igneous rocks together.

French lit.

doesn’t want a job after college

French lit.

A guy who thought that major would help him get laid. (Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?)

Fashion…merchandizing.
