Stereotyping by College

Iowa State: i think you’ve been offended by the OP so i’m gonna say smart kids in Iowa? lol

University of Rochester

Science Kids

Wake Forest:
Georgetown:
Boston College:

wake forest: no diversity, some racism
georgetown: smart, business, basketball
boston college: cold, no dorms i think?

rice university

Mediocre school and a Yale wannabe mini-me.

RISD

Stoner art and design students who will be forced to create rock bands to earn money since they can’t do so through their art after graduation. If they are lucky, they might create a successful animation show on Fox that get canceled once, but brought back 3 years later.

The New School (NYC)

Artsy but not artsy enough for art school. Intellectually curious, but not able to get into an Ivy league. Urban and hipster but not enough to say ‘eff school’ and drop out.

Upper East/West Side/Connecticut prep school kids who failed to get into any Ivy and are now too shaken about the world to venture outside of NYC, but refuse to go to NYU or a NYC native from one of the top public schools.

**University of Missouri/b

I thought you guys were supposed to know about colleges, or at least basic geography.

cornell is a party school
berkeley has hippies, not la
ut-austin is well-known for being liberal
corn does not grow in seattle lol
there’s no such thing as a hot butch girl, butch means not hot
potatoes are in idaho, not iowa generally
washington & lee is extremely conservative

^ Gah you’re the equivalent of the folks on the “stereotyping by major” thread who get uber defensive and start ranting about how the stereotype doesn’t fit their major and get all uptight.

Cornell isn’t a party school - it is really cold up there and known for a high-stress student population. Sure there’s lots of frats but a “party school” is like Penn State or most State U’s, not some nerdy ivy. Most non-Californians associate Californians with being liberal hippies for whatever reason too. but you’re right that the “hot butch girl” and “Seattle potatoes” ones make no sense…

U Missouri - either average kids headed to the local State U, or people hell bent on Journalism or a Media career

Dartmouth College

the party ivy

BC-

Notre Dame-

BC-Underage drinkers who get hit by trolleys

Notre Dame-Fans who punch their starting QB in the face when he goes out to dinner with his parents. Also, in the words of Hawaii’s head coach, “gay leprechauns”.

University of Maryland

“there’s no such thing as a hot butch girl, butch means not hot”

Er…that’s not true. When one uses “butch” in reference to lesbians, it denotes personal style (dress, hair style) and SOMETIMES personality (top, likes fixing cars, whatever). In many contexts it doesn’t imply anything about a girl’s physical features.

“Ugh, that girl is so butch!” <-one usage, which implies lack of physical attractiveness

“Oh, look at that butch lesbian in the leather jacket over there…” <-another usage, which does not say anything about physical featuers

Now, sometimes butch lesbians are thought of as being “unattractive” because even some of the most beautiful women don’t know how to dress “butch” without hiding how attractive they are. This is not true for Bryn Mawr. Visit. Be educated. These girls can pull it off.

And get your lesbian lingo straight, jeez ;).

University of Maryland (again, since I didn’t answer)

Basketball fans and people in Maryland and DC have heard of it.

Gonzaga

A school that typically does well in the tourney, and has some crazy people.

Xavier
Michigan

yeah but the things i quoted aren’t even stereotypes, they just don’t make any sense

Xavier: coolest school starting with an X
Michigan: Michigan CC’ers think they are the best college in the country and will fight you if you disagree

Rice University:
Notre Dame:

Introverts who didn’t want to go to Duke/UNC

Coast Guard Academy
City College (NY)
Rutgers

since I think it’s annoying to do multiple colleges at once (why not just post it again later?) I’ll do City College: Surprisingly beautiful campus in Manhattan, unfortunately unheard of for people outside the city - smart kids who decided to save money and wanted to party in NY.

Drexel University
