Just wondering, does anyone have an idea of what the acceptance rate at Stern was this year?

I believe it’s something like 29%, not including those accepted off waitlist. NYU generally has a 33% average acceptance for all its schools combined. I’ve heard that the Stern business program is one of the best in the country, and is constantly compared with Yale and Harvard…so good luck to you if you’re applying!

well, people applying generally have above 3.8 gpas and >2200 SAT scores so it’s pretty competitive.

I think it is confusing because the 28%+ acceptance is for NYU as a whole. The acceptance rate is lower for individual schools like Stern, Tisch, NYU Abu Dhabi.

I think Stern’s acceptance rate is around 15-16%. Maybe even lower this year, since each year it has become more and more difficult to get into the top ranked schools. Also, I and others believe the use of the Common App has affected the statistics and acceptance rates.

For students who applied for Fall 2010, the overall undergraduate acceptance rate was 38.1%

The admissions counselor that came to our school for an information session said she didn’t know the exact acceptance rate of each school, but Stern applicants account for roughly 25% of total applicants (~38,000) while Stern enrollees only account for about 12% of the incoming class (~5000).

Assuming the yeild for Stern and the rest of NYU is the same, it’s safe to say Stern admits 19-20% of all applicants. However, i’d assume the yeild for Stern is higher than the rest of NYU so I would put that number at 15%.

However I’ve also heard from an admissions rep that the acceptance rate for all NYU schools is around 30%. Which is clearly wrong considering the Common Data Set for Fall 2010 states the total acceptance rate was 38.1%.

I think the 30% number people keep hearing refers to graduate programs

It’s low-to-mid 20s. We have a higher yield than some other schools at NYU, but a lower acceptance rate.

We don’t get compared to Harvard and Yale. Within finance, Harvard, Wharton, and Princeton are unparalleled, the other Ivies follow, and Stern places in or below the lower Ivies. Ross, McIntire (UVA), and Duke vary after that.

Sterns acceptance rate is NO WHERE near 28%. NYUs acceptance rate this year was 19% in general (my friend works in the admissions office), stern is definitely lower.

Wikipedia (not that I put my full trust in it) says that

Although, I just checked BusinessWeek for myself (for the 2010-2011 academic year):
