So admissions decisions are out, and I'm looking for a Stern Business and Political Economy admitted student profile, unfortunately NYU has not yet created one (idk if they ever will). As a junior right now I'm just curious, how many people applied, were accepted, GPA, test scores and such so I can gauge my interest for next year.

Since they haven't made it yet, why not create our own here on CC. Anyone who applied feel free to post your admission decision and stats so the rest of us can get a picture of the seletivity of the program. Thanks

hello,
I was at the BPE orientation meeting yesterday, and from what I understand, they accepted 50 students from a pool of 800, with an original plan of accepting only 25. Somebody did ask what would happen if not all 50 students accepted their spots, and the dean replied that they have a very long waiting list so she was not worried about that. Also, we went around the room asking people why they applied to BPE, and curiously some people just said they did it kind of randomly and checked off a box lol. So perhaps they won’t attend.

The profile should up soon; they’re already running the numbers, so if you’re a junior that should be up for you in a month or so. For you to get an idea of what kind of students applied and were accepted, the kids I talked to there were cross-admitted at schools like JHU, Cornell, GWU Elliott, Barnard. (As for me I was waitlisted at Georgetown, Princeton, and Columbia.) They were also very articulate so that was great.

Good luck to everyone, and for everyone who was waitlisted, world studies seems pretty awesome too! You get to not only go to Shanghai and London (I think?) but also Buenos Aires. Either way, if you applied to BPE I assume that you love travelling and business from a global point of view, and I think Stern will help you satisfy that no matter what (junior semester abroad, world studies, etc) and good luck on the waitlist if you’re really hoping for it…I’m with you right there in terms of waitlist stress, rofl.

yeah they’re aiming for a class size of 50, so i’m sure they accepted around 70… but that accidental application thing happened to me too… it’s good though because i’m really into the program, so id have applied to it anyway…

but ive got 1550/2310 on sats… 790 in math 760 in the other two
3.85 uw 4.35 w
8 AP classes, the rest in high school honors
3 varsity sports a year, 2 community ones
church involvement, national merit finalist, national honor society

If I did not get teh pre admit to world studies? does that mean those placed on the stern waitlist who got that offer are ahead of me on thew waitlist?

i’m kinda like mjh91025
i guess i applied “accidentally” but i was accepted
quick stats - 1510/2270, 4.0 uw, 4.7 w, tons of ec
i was cross admitted to georgetown, and waitlisted for wharton @ penn
hope that helps

wait wait wait. In my acceptance letter, it said that I was pre-admitted in the World Studies program. Does this mean that I am on the waitlist, or is just the standard letter they sent out to all the people that didn’t get into the BPE program, but still got into stern?

I was admitted to BPE and at the presentation Sunday. I will not be going to NYU though. It did seem like an awesome program. I was not one of the ones who said they “just checked the box”

my parents went to the sunday session [i was in a different country at the time] and it seems like they admitted a very strong group. however, it also seemed that a huge chunk of the admitted students were asian and from the tri-state area [which might just be because visiting was easier for those of us closeby] so where’s the diversity? btw, i’m asian and from nj haha.

roflc0pter, did you go to the earlier or later session on sunday? and if you don’t mind me asking, which school do you think you’ll be turning it down for?

i visited today and hung out with one of my high school’s alumni who’s at stern right now. he says stern is still just the best for finance with strong wall street recruiting.

what kind of careers do you guys think the BPE program will introduce? certainly not ibanking right?
