Stern BPE, what are the results?

I went to the later session… I’d rather not ID myself because I think I’d die if anyone IRL knew about my involvement on this website… haha.

I haven’t visited yet but I’m thinking about Northwestern. I also love Rice (fantastic social scene!) and Wesleyan but their business - or lack thereof - programs do not compare at all.

I also got accepted at alot of good schools. IRL @ Cornell, G-town, UVA, GW, Suny Bing, BU, BC & Bentley. I have chosen Bentely with full tuition for 4 yrs. BPE @ NYU would have been about 40 grand a year for parents and some of that would be mine in loans. No loans, no w-study at Bentley for me and I love the school. I plan on attending graduate school also.

I did not apply accidentally at all. BPE actually made my mind about NYU - had there not be this program at NYU, I would not have applied to the university at all… I am aiming mostly at international political economy, and initially I wanted to study international relations during undergrad and then get an MBA. Fortunately, BPE came up in front of me, and I applied there and got in  My stats, in comparison o others here are prob not that great, but i am pretty darn sure that the story behind the application paved me the path:

gpa unw: 3.75
gpa w: 4.0
SAT CR: 620
SAT M: 750
SAT W: 680
SAT II Math II: 790
SAT II World History: 700
SAT II French: 700

I am tri-lingual (Russian, English, French) and advancing in Spanish, with vast international experience. Also accepted at GWU Elliott, and USouthCal. I definitely want to go to BPE; money is the only last concern for me. What do you think, are loans worth this program? Cause I know I can’t transfer into it after a year ina state school.

popcorntrack, if I were you, I would die trying to choose between BPE and GtownU SFS. GLUCK! ;)

Hey, I also just checked off the box, and I got in but after visiting the university, I think I might attend.

My stats:
GPA:
3.76 unweighted
4.29 weighted
2210 SAT (670 in reading, 740 in math, 800 in writing)
770 in Math II SAT
700 in Physics SAT

I think they’re looking specifically for students good at both math and english because you need to be well-rounded for business. I fit that description because I took AP Calc BC in 11th grade, I’m currently in AP English Literature, and I did well in the math and writing portions of the SAT.

well…all I can say about admission rates in the program is clearly affirmative action is not an issue; so many azns were accepted, it was ridiculous. In fact, I’m azn and I was so surprised when I got in. My stats:

1510/2270
13/330
decent amount of extracurriculars

Hey , I just got into bpe off the waitlist, but i want to know if any of the people said anything if we decide opt of bpe and do the core business?

The website that includes the FAQ of BPE ([Academics](http://w4.stern.nyu.edu/uc/prospectivestudent/academics.cfm?doc_id=100538)) says that we cannot opt out, however I heard from a couple of people that during the Question and Answer session they held for BPE admits, they said that if we really wanted to we could. I doubt they would have the power to force us to stay in the program if we really feel that it’s not right for us.

Thanks Allure, I posted this question in response to the faq at the bottom where it was like, you cannot change out of it. ITs reassuring to know that if i dont like it on the off chance, i will not be stuck.

Can anyone who went to the bpe presentation confitm what allure said?

hey, I was at the morning session, and yes, someone asked that question and they did say that we could switch out if we liked. If you have any further questions you can call up our academic advisor, mark nakamato. =)
