I am currently a junior from one of the largest and toughest high schools in the Chicago land area. I am really interested in NYU and it is definately my first choice school, particularly interested in Stern.
Here are some of my stats:
GPA: 4.03/4.8 Weighted, 3.48/4.0 unweighted. My freshman year grades are solid, but one of my best friends was really sick sophomore year, and it affected me a lot. My junior year grades will definately be better. Also, I’m on the fastest and most rigorous curriculum at my school.
ACT: 34 with a 36 on writing.
Class rank: NA
I haven’t taken the SAT, but I plan on taking SAT2 math, any suggestions on what I should take?
Extra curriculars:
Co-founded a club that helps freshman study for their finals. Since my school is so big, the finals can be intimidating for freshman.
NHS
Tri-M (music honor society)
Highest level orchestra, been playing since I was in 1st grade. Also, my orchestra was short on viola players this year, so I volunteered to switch from violin to play viola.
Soccer, been playing since I was in 1st grade, been part of school team for 3 years now.
Executive board of Chinese club
300+ volunteer hours
Thought international students in China about life in America and the culture (fluent in Chinese)
Immersive summer research internship at Northwestern University for Biomedical engineering, 40 hours a week for 8 weeks, created a poster of our research and presented it at my school.
Applied for a scholarship at University of Cambridge, really competitive, might not get it.
Classes taken/taking: AP Physics 1, AP Euro, AP Calc BC, APUSH, AP Bio, AP English, AP Macroeconomics.
AP scores for physics and euro are both 4’s.
Next year I plan on taking accounting, microeconomics, ap French, ap stats, ap environmental science, ap literature, ap gov. Been taking French for 4 years
I will have a really strong essay, NYU is my top top choice, and I have a good sense of who I will ask for my rec letters.
Also, I’m an Asian male, if you couldn’t tell by now
PLS HELP AND THANKS SO MUCH.
