Stern freshman, willing to answer questions

willing to answer any questions any prospective nyu students might have.

uhall or hayden...are either better suited for stern students? probably not.

How much time do you study and are the classes hard? How much free time do you have on average? How much do you spend per week on average? Would I have time to work maybe 10 hours a week? Sry for the myriad of questions.

Hello ,
I just wanted to ask if there were alot of international students in Stern, especially south east asians, and that did all of em have 2000+ or 2100+ SAT 1's .

thanks

do you have to wear suit in class?

ofc, international students are more competitive if they apply for aid. Majority of them applying to stern have 2100+

som1: yeah, there are a fair number of intl students - you can look at the viewbook for exact numbers, I think. I have no idea about their SAT scores, but the average is likely similar to the Stern average (which is pretty high anyway). International students don't get any aid, and I don't see how that would relate to competitiveness anyway.

vector: do you have to wear suit in class? <-I'd say this is probably the top urban legend (if you can call it that) about Stern. No, you don't. A lot of people do though out of necessity because they're either coming from an internship/interview or going to one. Also, there are tools who wear them to presentations because they think it'll get them a better grade.

id say rubin is probably where most sternies live, and thats because thats usually where all the asians live since its the cheapest dorm. haha

1st semester freshman year is easy since almost all ur classes are going to be introductory CAS courses. as long as u go to the classes that you NEED to go to, study a little, ull get atleast a B. i studied alot for finals and midterms, but i didnt rele go to classes. the more classes u go to though, the less ull have to study. also ull definately find enough time to get a job and work.

there are alotta international students but i dunno rele know anything bout their SAT scores.

haha, the freshman do not have to wear suits to class, though ull see alot of upperclassmen wearing suits. they usually have internships and jobs, but i bet some dress up for the hell of it.

hope this helps guys.

What were your stats?

is there any firms that have some kind of relationships with NYU Stern? Like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan chase, Morgan Stanley, Citibank etc.. Also, about what percent
of graduates work for those prestigious firms?

Oh one more tjing.. do international students have any chance of doing internships?

I'm also a Stern Freshman. My stats were:

SAT: 2340
Verbal: 800
Writing: 800
Math: 740

SAT II's
US HIstory: 760
Biology: 740
Math I: 730

AP's My High School only offered 4 AP classes
Biology: 5
US History 5
Calculus AB 5

Class Rank: 1/275

I applied RD

Got some financial Aid, appealed my aid and got a little more. Got better packages at WashU, Carnegie-Mellon and Emory. But I chose NYU. I'm enjoying myself both socially and academically.

I'm sure Mattie's right about the workload. First semester freshman year wasn't too bad. I live in Rubin.

^Did you get into the Stern Scholars program?

Nope. Just a regular Sternie.

What is the social life like especially amongst Stern students? Is it really competitive? Do people tend to get along? I know NYU is a big place, and the students probably run the gambit. What specifically set Stern apart from other schools?
