Stern or CAS

I'm pretty sure that I want to apply as an economics major to NYU. I know that the CAS economics major is focused on the theoretical aspect of the science while Stern's economics program provides a mathematical understanding of the study.

Stern sounds more appealing because of its rep as a top undergrad b-school.

I know I?m not supposed to be asking this, but which is either to get in?

Thanks

Actually, both Stern and CAS have two economic tracks - theory or policy. Theory is the more quantitative side (geared towards kids who want to get an econ PhD). Pick based on what you want to do outside of your major. You'll have to take a lot of intro business classes + a smattering of liberal arts classes in Stern; in CAS, you'll take a bunch more liberal arts classes and will have limited access to business classes at Stern.

CAS is much easier to get into.

What is the difference between theory and policy for economics?

Is theory more math based and policy more on the social interactions?

hatuen: essentially, yes. There's a more detailed description on the econ website.
