Stern or CAS?

If I don't apply to Stern now, I'm going to apply as a transfer eventually (assuming I end up going to CAS).

I go to a competitive private school in North Carolina. GPAs are not calculated, nor is class rank.

However, I have had mostly A's in high school, with the exception of a B in Honors Alg 2 in 10th grade, and 2 B's on my senior mid year report (AP Calc and AP Physics).

1370/1600 SAT (750M/620CR/640W)
720 Literature (SAT 2)
700 Math I (SAT 2)
30 ACT

PS: I know my CR sucks. A lot. I only took the SAT once, in May, and didn't have time to retake it because of SAT 2's (had to take them for Columbia).

My ECs are pretty good. Not sure how much I can talk about them in my app though, other than the EC list. My essay is about my grandparents living with me. My teacher recommendation is great.

Stern or CAS? I was leaning toward applying to CAS - my counselor is encouraging me for CAS as well. What would it be like transferring from CAS to Stern (I understand it's pretty hard to transfer)?

Thanks in advance.

I had 1420/1600, 2130 and I was accepted to CAS ED.

Stern is a lot harder, and someone with a 2300 and 90ish average was rejected from it ED as well as several others who had 2100+ scores. I really recommend CAS because stern would be a very high reach

I agree with the person above. CAS is easier to get into than Stern. Once you’re in CAS, maintain a stellar GPA and try to transfer.

Thanks guys. CAS it is.

I think you should ask yourself if you want to be at NYU and not at Stern. I applied to Stern over CAS because I knew that I wouldn’t want to be at NYU if I wasn’t enrolled in Stern.
