Stern or Telegraph Commons??

So I got an offer of a triple in Stern, which is really far from the FPF buildings (i'm an fpf student) and i just found out about Telegraph Commons. TC is cheaper and closer to the units but I feel like I should go to Stern because of its tradition and chance to meet more people. I'd really appreciate any input on whether I should stick with Stern or choose Telegraph Commons, especially from someone who's had experience in either one of them!

I’ve stayed at stern and checked out telegraph commons so I kinda know about both. I heard telgraph commons had a rat or cockroach problem last year and when I checked it out (I was thinking of living there), i REALLY didn’t like it. It seemed like the management was shady, the place reeked of bleach smell and the rooms were so-so. Stern looks reallllly old inside. It feels like I’m living in the dorms back in the 60’s or something. I did see cockroaches there when I stayed there. The bathrooms are definitely worse than the units…wow basically I’d say go for neither. Go check out Westminster House or Tau House. I stayed at Tau house bec. i was in FPF also. I really liked it minus the management. That woman is a ***** and will try to rip you off any way she can but it was a good experience there nonetheless. I did get fined though…buttttt yeah go check out other places…but if you WERE to choose between Stern or TC…hmm maybe go with TC. honestly you meet people wherever you stay. if anything at TC, you’ll probably meet more FPF people than at Stern and that honestly is kinda good because you get to relate and stuff. Please don’t stay at either though. they both suck haha westminster is better. it’s pretty nice too but at tau the social life is really good you get to know everyone

OH i see… is there any benefit to staying with school housing or does it not really matter? I just checked out Tau and Westminster online. It says Tau is only for frat members? For westminster, is north or south better?

Telegraph commons is under new management and is being renovated.

Right. Is TC really loud? And is Westminster worth the cost? With meal plan, its almost $3000 more a year.

TC is nice! nice interior, nice location, nice people I suppose. but there’s also other options to look into…and you better act fast! westminister house is another popular one.

FWIW, your FPF classes will be a block from unit 2…

It really just depends on you. I enjoyed living in a co-ed residence hall, because I felt like it was appropriate for my first year here.

Stay in Stern. You’ll miss out on the freshman experience if you move to TC. Save TC for your sophomore year.

@ZepoLM

What do you mean by “the freshman experience”? Can you elaborate?

Bumping for a response.

the meaning of that is relative, but it basically refers to how most of the students that live in the residence halls will be incoming first years, so you all will go through the same experience, etc, with a residence assistant, access to facilities, signing people into the building, staying out of trouble, etc…
